We stayed at Hotel Albir Playa for 4 nights, and it was a lovely hotel. I paid for a package holiday through Jet2 and only paid for a standard room but when we checked in we were on the 5th floor which was the deluxe rooms, it was lovely and the views were incredible! The lifts were quite slow but we got there in the end! As we stayed in April we didn’t really need the air conditioning but we noticed that when we tried to put it on it was blowing out hot air, so that may be an issue in the summer, but we slept with the balcony door open so we got a nice breeze. In the room there’s a minibar fridge which is good as my partner needed this for diabetic medication, and there’s a hairdryer and a TV. Location wise it’s perfect for nearby supermarkets if you’re bed and breakfast (there’s a Lidl just next door, and a mercadona just across the road) all of them were really reasonable for snacks/water etc. There’s so many restaurants as well nearby so plenty of choice for mealtimes (I’d highly recommend Tremonti for pizzas, and Caspers for english food). I’d say it was about a 10-15 minute walk to the beachfront. Also if you go up past Lidl, there’s a McDonalds, Popeyes and a burger king (good for children who want a non authentic spanish treat). There’s also a tram station across the road from McDonalds (quite a busy road) where you can catch a tram to Altea, Calpe and Benidorm. There’s also loads of number 10 buses running through the day. The pool area was lovely, although the pool is very cold this time of year, but my daughter braved it and had the swimming pool pretty much to herself a lot of the time. There was no issue getting sunbeds at any point in the day so no-one really bothered reserving them. The breakfast wasn’t the best in the world, there was some questionable things, like broccoli next to the bacon and beans, different types of sausages each day, but the selection of fruit and pastries were delicious, and my daughter was very happy with the pancakes! We drank in the bar a couple of times and this was really reasonably priced. All of the staff were really friendly and the hotel itself was kept really clean by the maids. We had quite a late pick up time from the transfer, but you don’t have to check out until 12pm, then we were able to put our luggage in the luggage room and stay around the pool to pass the time.
