Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa

I recently visited the Cordial Mogan Playa,located at Mogan,Gran Canaria recently and felt my experience could be beneficial to other travellers considering staying at this hotel resort.I have visited the area of Mogan on several occasions for day trips over the years and have loved this beautiful area and decided to book to stay here for my holiday.The hotel lobby is very impressive and spotlessly clean.I received a warm welcome from reception staff at check in and was offered a welcome drink of either orange juice or Prosecco,which was a nice touch.I I did not have to provide a credit card upon check,as is the case with so many other hotel resorts and I was given a password for the free hotel Wi-Fi.The rooms and suites are arranged over a sprawling area in blocks.My room was very clean,the air conditioning was good and was individual climate controlled,not centrally controlled from reception,which I was very glad of.There were a selection of toiletries and kettle with tea and coffee supplies,including a coffee maker with a couple of pods supplied.There was also a fridge in my room with 2 small welcome bottles of water.I had a nice balcony with table and chairs,which overlooked one of the pools.There were twin beds pushed together in my room with only 1 pillow each,however there were more in the cupboard.Storage space was adequate,the furnishings however,are beginning to show their age and the tv looked old,with the only English channels being BBC1,BBC news and Sky news.I was very surprised to discover that face/wash cloths are not provided in the bathroom and the towels are thin,discoloured,old and tatty,the worst I have seen for any hotel in some time.I soon discovered too that the in room toiletries,tea bags,coffee pods,sugar and milk supplies are not replaced after check in,which I found to be extremely’penny pinching’ for what is meant to be a top resort.I also discovered that there is a €2.60 daily charge to use the in room safe and,as I had not been informed of this by reception staff at check in,I had to shortly go all the way back to request use of a safe and subsequently pay for that too.I would like to ask management why these cutbacks are necessary as,each day when I arrived back to my hotel in the evening,the room maids had left lights on in my room all day,needless to do this and indeed costs money and I know my room had been cleaned early in the morning each day.The water from my shower in my room changed frequently from hot to cold,within a couple of seconds,with no warning.There are bars,restaurants,library and gymnasium in the hotel also.A room key is needed to enter various areas of the resort,which for security can be useful but I found this a bit problematic whilst waiting at the hotel for my return transfer to the airport as I was confined to the lobby and library..The hotel is situated in a very good location,about a 5 to 7 minute walk to Puerto Mogan harbour/centre.There is a small shopping area opposite the hotel with

We went here in 2022 and it was lovely. The hotel is huge swimming pools are great and lifeguard team is resolutive. Rooms are big and the gardens are beautiful. There us even a chap and an archeological remain in the area with outstandings views to the harbour. I'm dying to go back.

The hotel is a complex rather than a building or series of identical buildings. It has a central main structure that forms the reception, main restaurant and theatre. The grounds around the buildings enjoy the benefit of being host to an amazing tropical garden of beautiful mature trees and plants and of incredible variety. This means almost everywhere on the complex one enjoys lovely natural surroundings including within the main building. Rooms vary based on what you have booked from suites down. Our room (a double) was well appointed and furnished although the style chosen does have a dated appearance, which TBH it is not, it is just the style. Access to the facilities of the resort are very close to hand given it is not a large place and the hotel is relatively close to everything. A nearby shopping centre gives very local access to anything you might want to buy during your stay. On Fridays there is a market in the street outside the hotel. A bonus of the hotel is that it has a 37 place under ground car park for those that have chosen to hire a car. I believe there is an additional car park available if needed. Food in the main restaurant is buffet style and very good indeed. The staff there are very helpful. We took the plus package which included drink but (as we found out) only drink in the restaurant. So load up there and take away at the end of your meal. BTW lunch is never include in any packages. There is an interesting archaeological site on the hill above the complex. Up to you if you like that sort of thing but it does afford great views of the resort. The 2 pools. are large and they try to make one a quite pool for adults and the other for families. This is not enforced rigorously but seems to almost work. There are other sporting facilities and services from Tennis, bowling, Exercise classes etc. Overall a very good hotel that we recommend without reserve.

Absolutely lovely. Great hotel, clean, manicured, friendly, helpful staff, good food, perfect location. Rooms are traditional and this is part of the charm. The only reason I haven’t given 5* is because the beds were two metal framed singles pushed together… they were comfortable though!!

Did not liked being charged for the safe. Good food and wine’s prices also good.

Stayed in the Cordial Mogan Playa last week in March this being our second visit to this hotel. We had a lovely week and found all the staff very polite & informative. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Pool area can be busy but there is 2 large pools so you can normally get a lounger. Room was fine as would be expected for a 4* hotel and the bar staff served some great cocktails. Less than a 10 minute walk to the port area where you will find some great restaurants & bars, there is also a shopping centre directly across from the hotel which contains bars, restaurants & a supermarket. We’ve actually decided to go back in September as we really enjoyed the hotel and Puerto Mogan.

We knew this place wasnt going to be 10/10 but wow. The rooms are so old and outdated, the pictures they use hide this well. Every single person staying at the hotel is 65+ so this creates a VERY strange atmosphere. The food in the buffet at dinner and lunch was quite frankly atrocious, it reminded me of school dinners in primary school and we ate outside the hotel every night despite paying for dinner there it is BAD BAD BAD (the breakfast buffet was better). And to top it off if you leave anything down for 10 seconds you will turn around and find it gone as the guests seem to just steal at will! When you report this to staff they do not care in the slightest. Would not return to this place if you paid me.

Fab hotel. Stunning, clean, beautiful pools, great ambience, staff are exceptional. A 4 star plus in my opinion. Great location and rooms 1502 and 1501 were so quiet (top floor and set back from pool). Only ****** was the buffet food. Although Ive stayed in hotels not quite as impressive as this before, they have had more imagination and creativity with the food - different theme nights eg tapas, Mexican etc. Each night its joints of sliced meat/fish which is fine, but it would have been nice to have a surprise some times!! Just felt a bit repetitive - and other hotels do it better. Still good food though, just something that if improved, would make it exceptional.
