[26.10.2022] The receptionists are extremely bad at hospitality. One is on the phone, sitting, doesn't even acknowledge our entrance by eye contact, another just sit and look at us and does not even speak a word until we start. No welcome, no greet and no smile. When asked questions, answers are short and rude. It is odd why the hotel manager unable to deliver basic hospitality. Good look with no intelligence apa guna? It is highly not recommended to stay here, just stay elsewhere.

My room (superior king room) was big and clean, but smelled a bit weird, it might be the smell of the sanitiser. The building from inside is newly renovated (renovation is still in progress), the lobby looks very nice, the staff is nice and friendly, but they have no restaurant, no small bar, no lounge, nothing. And the most disappointing thing: I could smell in my room that someone(s) smoke in the corridor or somewhere close! It was crazy disgusting! Smoking is not allowed in the building, but unfortunately they cannot detect it, since there is no smoke detector, which is dangerous.

The water house has a long plank road connected with the island. Guests can visit the Bayao people on the island through the plank road, and when the tide recedes, they can also go down to the beach to catch crabs, fish and shrimp

A very wonderful water house experience. First of all, the boss answers questions very attentively and seriously. Every detail is considerate for tourists. Both pick-up and drop-off are well arranged. There are three meals a day. The breakfast, lunch and dinner taste good and the ingredients are fresh! There are also arrangements for afternoon tea! In the snorkeling area arranged by the boss, you can see a lot of corals and small fish, and you can have a panoramic view of the underwater world. The waters are more beautiful than the island hopping we arranged ourselves. There are two beds and a sofa bed in the room, which is more convenient for bringing children. You can see the sea view from every window, and it is also very pleasant to sit on the balcony!

Sea Star Perfect resort. Perfect location. Perfect staff. Wonderful owner, ERIC, who has great PR 👍🏻. Staff is respectful and friendly. I cannot ask for more. Highly recommend Sea Star Resort. We bought a 3D2N Sea Star Resort package. It included a return transfer by van from Tawau Airport to Semporna boat jetty which took almost 1.5h, a 10-minute boat ride to Sea Star Resort, a whole day of island hopping and snorkelling, all meals (breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner 👍🏻), free usage of inflatables, transparent paddle boat and snorkelling gear and unlimited supply of drinking water. The room is very clean and spacious- had a king size bed plus a day bed. Bath area was spacious and attractive. Really love this place very much. Look at the video I have attached! Air conditioned, good internet connection and extended balcony. Food is local buffet style. We enjoyed all our meals there. You will get an assortment of dishes. For dinner, you get good large prawns 🍤 and fish👍🏻. Tea is special- besides 2-3 types if local cakes, you get an endless supply of banana fritters which are very addictive 👍🏻 The sea water around the resort and beyond is crystal clear. You can always see the marine creatures in the water. From 4pm, use of inflatables, transparent paddle boat and snorkelling gear are supervised. Very kind staff who are ever ready to lend a helping hand. We are grateful to Eric, Gordon, Amsyar, Lisa and all the Sea Star Resort staff. We will be back! I don’t expcted much but I really enjoy 2D2N styed here. Greeting by Mr Kenny during arrived who help me to upgrad my room from deluxe queen to King with view at 107….. Besides, one of the lovely staff (Mrs Shima) whos cleanup my room she was friendly too. Thank you so much Shima from the day one till we leave you’re lovely person. AAzri AStayed in this hotel in August 2020. Booked for standard room. Room - Don't expect a 5 star Hotel but it is the best by its standard actually in Lahad Datu. There is small fridge for you to keep your drinks cold. :) Good location as it is in the town center and near to shopping area. They provide free parking. Cleanliness - So so. Cons, 1. My bed sheet not that good. please refer photo attached.

Had trouble with the internet in the room, but good signal in the hallway. Mathew the manager, was very apologetic, and trying to resolve the issue. Meanwhile he had a small table brought up

GGuest UserOverall, this is a cheap hotel with middle price range. Rooms rate are between MYR60 to MYR150 per night. No elevator here. You will have to go up by using stairs. For youngsters that is ok but for seniors and old people it will be a little bit hard and and uncomfortable for them especially for senior age people with knee pain and back pain. Reception desk is at ground floor next to the main entrance. Location of this hotel is strategic because it is only 2-4 minutes walk to nearby night market. The Lahad Datu Post Office is next to the hotel building then the market is next to the Lahad Datu Post Office. If you drive a car you can park your car overnight at Post Office parking area which is free. This hotel is located in busy road.
