Great Wolf Lodge Wisconsin Dells

We have stayed at the GW lodge in Wisconsin dells at least once a year for the last 5 years. My family has loved our previous experiences there and I have previously recommended it as vacation destination to friends with kids. Unfortunately it has become apparent that this location is being neglected and corporate decisions have ruined the experience. This will probably be the last time we visit, even though our kids are still in prime target age (4-10 years old). The facility is aging but there are a lot of family friendly things such as the large rooms with bunk bed cabins and summer camp like activities that kept bringing us back. The main thing that has led to my low rating is the declining customer service. Things like unable to reserve adjoining rooms even when booked months in advance, long delays with checking in and taking hours to get the room, issues with the house keeping app etc. The final straw is they added an unadvertised parking fee every night for a lot that is shared with restaurants and other businesses. When challenged that this was not listed when the reservation was made the only response they had was that sorry this is company policy at all locations and can't be waived. If they had added this to the resort fee or hotel room charge I would have been annoyed but really wouldn't have cared, compared to the thousands we have spent on the place and add-ons an extra $45 really isn't that much. By sneaking it in and not willing to address it highlights what the company thinks of customers.

Rooms are really showing their age. There’s no counter space because the microwave that is not mentioned in the room amenities takes up all of it. One of the beds completely covers an outlet. Beds were pretty comfortable. Our room was on the third floor and the floor above us must have had a a marching band or something because it sounded like marching up and down the hall all hours of the day and night. The water park itself was ok but due to inclement weather on our only full day everyone was inside. Every single pool was jammed with little kids. Even the adults only hot tub area had more than the 18 it was supposed to max out at. For the amount of money it cost for two nights plus meals, I’ve had better stays elsewhere. This place desperately needs to be updated.

It was definitely a great time with my 1 year old child. He absolutely loved the kids activities and the place was exactly for him. If you are going to go make sure you take children because its more of a family & childrens place. Dinning areas are so close just like a few minutes walking and good shopping area an outlet mall next to it. Staff was very nice and helpful with everything. Pools are clean and water slides are fun as well. Overall, i definitely recommend bring my child again later in time.

Me and my family loved our stay here. The water park was a blast. Didn’t have to deal with staff hardly at all but the ones I did were all friendly.

We called on the way up there and booked the room. That part went well. When we arrived at check in we was told we needed to pay for parking. That was an additional $30 for the two night. For the same breakfast most hotels provide was was an additional $81. We then went to their water park and they charge you for the towels. When we turned them back in they told us they said they took that off of oour bill. The room was clean but had a electric problem. If we bumped the counter that the microwave sat on, it would turn on. We only stayed two nights. Just keep in mind that they are loaded with extra charges. We won't be returning to this hotel.

We’ve stayed here before and have also stayed at the Wilderness. The positives about GWL is you don’t have to walk for miles to get to the waterpark/rooms. All workers we encountered were friendly. We like the layout of the waterpark. Drinks/food in the waterpark are reasonably priced and large portions. Now the bad- this place is filthy! I don’t think they’ve dusted, wiped down surfaces, or vacuumed in years! The main lobby was probably the worst of it. The cobwebs and dust hanging from the taxidermy animals…yikes! I haven’t seen anybody come around with a duster or even a rag cleaning a single thing this entire stay. It’s one thing to have worn, tattered furniture but it’s a whole other thing when it comes to filth. Sadly, we won’t be back and we’ll be going to the Wilderness from now on.
