When we rode into the Lodge at the end of a long day through the Roxburgh Gorge my heart sank as the place looks like a very modest 70s/80s build all brick and brown stained terraces. Well, everything about the experience belies that initial impression. Greeted warmly by the owner and shown to a well-appointed studio with a place to park the bikes. The owners have been thoughtful about the fit-out of the room with plugs where you want them, lights where needed and well-appointed bathroom/shower. Bed was comfortable. Sat on the porch with a glass of wine (in our own luggage) then off to the restaurant for dinner. I had the eye fillet steak with stilton and mushroom sauce. Huge steak, absolutely perfectly cooked medium rare (no mean feat with a steak that thick) and simple but perfectly made sauce. Affogato for dessert - simple but excellent. Breakfast the next morning was equally as well thought out and executed. Overall, a very good experience to be recommended.
