A great little hotel in a beautiful town which seems to be a well-kept secret. First, we'd like to say ignore the negative neds and norahs on *********** yes the building like us is old but she is undergoing work to make her beautiful (yes Sam does call the hotel she and very affectionately the grand old lady of Langholm), with that out the way to our stay. Sam and Steve have a fantastic team and you can see that, unlike so many places as owners and bosses, they actually care. We checked in a little later than planned after the sat nag sent us around the houses to another Crown Hotel in Lochobe, not as pretty. Anyway after we arrived we were greeted on a busy Saturday by Jayson, he showed us to our room and explained how breakfast worked (basically book in advance if you're on anything other than B&B or D, B&B) we did the usual checked out the tea/coffee, toiletries and the usual bits that usually lack. After putting our feet up and watching tv we ventured down to the bar. They have a great choice of drinks available and I can say as an Irish man the best Guinness this side of Dublin, chilled to perfection, my wife enjoyed the cider again cold, crisp and actually tasted of apples. We were informed it was the regularity of Steve cleaning his pipes, lucky man. We decided to eat early and asked for the menu and whilst not huge it is perfectly formed. I had the chicken wings and my wife the spicy boi (it has been a long time since she called me that) burger. We sat and enjoyed the cold and refreshing drinks, after 20 minutes Sam and Steve arrived with our food and both meals looked good. I pulled out the joke that my wife hasn't called me a spicy boi in a while, Steven gave that knowing male nod that empathised with me, whilst Sam and my darling wife rolled their eyes and decided it was too early in the day for that nonsense. The food was delicious I wish I'd ordered 8 wings I know for next time. I don't know where they get their chicken breasts from but I did suspect my wife's burger had been made using a small dinosaur. We ordered more drinks and enjoyed the relaxed but fun atmosphere in the bar. Sam came in to grab the plates and made sure everything was okay, and casually mentioned sticky toffee pudding as she left. So now we're intrigued so desert it was and boy it did not disappoint. You can tell everything is homemade with care. Sam & Steve popped their heads into the bar to catch up with their regulars and make sure the bar staff didn't need anything before making sure we didn't need anything. We didn't. what a fantastic night we had and we went to bed far later than we had planned to. It's true what they say time flies when you're having fun. We wandered off to bed and slept like logs the most comfortable bed, to say the least. We headed down very sadly to check out to find a chipper Sam and her two little helpers (Harry and Zara were so polite ) Zara took the key and Harry asked if needed any help with our bags, the hotel will be in
