The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

Let's start with the conclusion: Overall, it was great 👍 and I'd consider going back! Pros: 😀 1. The service was absolutely perfect! I visited all the restaurants, the pool, the kids' club, the shops – all public facilities – and the staff were incredibly dedicated. They tried their best to meet any request, and they asked very detailed questions, especially when interacting with children, who they were super friendly to! I only encountered three staff members who spoke Chinese: the chef and a server at the Chinese restaurant, and a lady at the kids' club! 2. Even though it was a bit muggy, I surprisingly didn't get a single mosquito bite! Not one mosquito bump on our family of three! I brought so much mosquito repellent, but it was all for nothing! 3. Many European and North American families stay at this hotel, so the food has been adapted a bit, especially the Chinese food, haha! But the quality is still okay! The Chinese breakfast at Haiyan Restaurant is better than their dinner! Cons: 😡 1. We stayed on the first floor in Area 6, and one night the equipment noise was incredibly loud – ridiculously loud! I really wanted to call and complain at the time, but it was the middle of the night and my child was fast asleep, so I let it go. Everyone should definitely avoid that area! 2. On the first day, we left a tip on the nightstand, and they even coiled my phone charger neatly, and arranged the paper airplanes my child made in a row. The tidying was incredibly meticulous, the most detailed and best I've ever experienced in a luxury hotel! But on the second day! We didn't leave a tip, and lo and behold, a bunch of shower hair in the shower caddy wasn't cleaned up, which I didn't expect! Do they really differentiate service that much?

✅ Pros: Perfect for families with children. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, and the hotel has small animals, which creates a lovely atmosphere. ❌ Cons: My expectations were set too high beforehand. Staying only one night, the overall experience was just average, with no particular standout highlights.

Overall, it was pretty good, but I wasn't entirely satisfied with the service. When I first checked in, everything in the room was fine. However, after the room was cleaned on the second day, none of the complimentary drinks or snacks were refilled. They also didn't replace the toothbrush I had thrown away; instead, they retrieved it from the trash and put it back in its place 🤦‍♀️. The hotel provided a fruit platter, but on the second day, they took away the knife, so I could only stare at the fruit. They have a Western restaurant with sunset views. When I asked, they recommended it for watching the sunset, but mentioned I needed to book a table in advance. Later that evening, the weather wasn't great – it was cloudy. I figured even if there was no sunset, I could at least enjoy the sea view. But when I got there, I was very disappointed. Not only was there no sunset, but there was no view at all. I was just sitting inside watching the staff bustling around. Afterward, I requested to change tables, and I was grudgingly given a spot where I could see just a tiny bit of the sea.

The room was spacious and very clean. The turndown service was incredibly thoughtful and detailed. The hotel's landscaping is beautiful, and despite being in a rainforest, they've done an excellent job with mosquito and insect control. The breakfast offered a great variety. If I visit Langkawi again, I would definitely book this place.
