The Eagle House Hotel

Some years ago after a few days in Cairo to visit the pyramids etc., we went on to Alexandria and stayed in a hotel, with all its spender that probably dated back to the old empire days. Entering the room we had at The Eagle House Hotel, although smaller and not as grand, was a reminder of our stay in Alexandria. There was also a bar at the Eagle, that does very good meals in the evenings to save having to go out again to find somewhere to eat. The bar also had real ale. Very good breakfast in the morning There is also a Castle, literally just up the road, to visit.

Outdated room, tired decor, with paint blistering off wall behind bedhead due to damp. Expected better going off photos. Bedroom needed updating

Very nice stay, lovely people, lovely room, very happy. Lovely historic house right in front of the castle. Great spot! Good breakfast and good gin bar too. We were very happy to stay there so central and felt well looked after. It's a bit tired but it's very old so fair enough! Very comfortable bed and lovely linen.

I recently hired out their event room downstairs for a suprise 30th. The communication throughout was amazing and when I arrived on the day to set up Terri was amazing and so helpful with anything I needed. My guests gave great compliments of both the food and the staff! Plenty of rooms to accommodate our guests who had to travel from further away also!

The hotel itself is very very tried and in need of updating, however it is a very old and could be beautiful building . Our room (9) definitely needed refurbishment. The carpet was ilfitting and the bathroom appears to be designed for the use of “the Borrowers” only!! It comprises if an electric shower wedged into a small cupboard with toilet and washbasin. It is tiny and far too small to be comfortable. Also there is carpet in the bathroom!! Having said this , the towels were lovely : white and fluffy! We were woken up early by the occupants of the next room taking a shower. Presumably the same ancient electric shower that we had in our room making a horrendous noise! The bar on the other hand is wonderful! It has its own little Gin Distillery and they have produced their own gin. I was offered tasters of all three gins that they produce which were delicious. The meal we had was also delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were all lovely. In conclusion: the bar offering food is excellent. The hotel is clean but very very dated.

My wife and I plus our two black labs stayed last night at Eagle House. Our room was very spacious, the bed was just what was needed, being large enough to accomodate two humans and two pups!!🤣 Dinner was very nice as was breakfast. All in all a very nice stay. Why 4/5 and not 5/5? Another arm chair in the room would have been nice and an incidental table too would have rounded off the furniture. The staff were very friendly especially Terri. We will stay again.

Chris**as party night was fantastic. We had lovely food, danced the night away and the staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. The a**osphere was great and the venue looked amazing. The Chris**as tree in reception looked beautiful.

A clean welcoming hotel pleasant staff Buffet style breakfast but freshly cooked English breakfast,perfect. Chef forgot the hash browns but kindly cooked up a batch. Attentive waitress. . Can reccomend the Eagle 1 gin.
