The Horseshoe Country Inn

We were walking across the NY Moors and chose to have Sunday lunch at Horseshoe @ Levisham before catching the train back to Pickering. We all had roast beef and it was fantastic! Pink in the middle, crispy fat on the outside - yummy. Add to that we had the privilege of dining at an original Robert (mouseman) Thompsom table.

Another fantastic few days away in one of our favourite places, with fantastic accommodation, great food and helpful staff. We have stayed here many times over the past twelve years or so and as always we have enjoyed every minute of the short break. This time we stayed in one of the smaller rooms over the bar and restaurant, no particular reason, just for a change. The Garden rooms are bigger and newer, but cost more, depends what your budget is. Of course, one of the highlights is the food, nothing is too much trouble, for the staff who are always smiling and very helpful, there is always a specials board with some different selections, you end up wishing you were stopping a couple of extra nights just to sample the other dishes on the menu. Of course, it goes without saying that we will be back again.

Myself, my husband and two dogs stayed here for two nights. We had such a lovely stay. Initially, I was shocked at how spacious our room was! It was decorated beautifully, really clean and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Food each morning and evening was quick to come out and really tasty. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful. We absolutely loved it, thank you so much!

I could not fault anything about our stay. I would recommend the location accommodation and all staff were tremendous plus the food was top quality Cant wait for our next visit.

What a beautiful welcoming pub in a small hidden hamlet - worth the drive clean good food lovely seating outside welcoming staff - definitely should visit beautiful drive up to levisham road only suitable one car but plenty of passing places

We have stayed here on several occasions and love its remote rural location in an idyllic hamlet, where you can hike the Yorkshire Moors direct from the pub. It oozes charm, cosiness and friendliness but you must accept that the old building means that the rooms over the pub are fairly small, en-suites are squeezed into tiny spaces, ceilings slope, floors creak and everything is slightly wonky!! Whilst they are fairly well decorated rooms lack modern features such as power points and places for charging devices, etc. However any downside is made up for by the wonderful hospitality, the superb dinners and great breakfasts. We’ll be back!!!

Wonderful place to stay. The rooms are beautiful and are thoroughly cleaned. The staff are marvellous and look after us so well. Food is outstanding. We adore the Horseshoe and the staff. Definitely a place to visit and stay or to have a meal in.

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Horseshoe Arms in Leversham. We stayed in a garden room that had its own garden area and was close to the car park and the inn itself. The rooms was large and spacious and had two comfortable chairs and Sky tv. Tea and coffee were available as well as bar services if you need an alcoholic drink. The only down side was that the bathroom was very small and if you are on the larger size of person you may need to book another room than no9 which we had. Having said that it is only a minor issue with that one room. The room was very clean, well presented and the bed comfortable. The most outstanding part of the stay is the food. A wide ranging menu cooked to perfection, from Chicken curry to steaks, the food was excellent. Breakfast did not disappoint either with a full English breakfast or a lighter continental offering if you prefer. Another outstanding point was the service. All the staff were polite, engaging and out there to please and make our stay perfect. You could not do much better if you plan a couple of days away in North Yorkshire than to choose this wonderful place to stay

Pre booked Sunday Roast and we both ordered the roast beef. The plate came with blood oozing out of the beef, not just rare it was raw. Although a large portion it was very thin cut and very tough. We cut some from the outside and this was almost the same. I put mine in a doggy bag and took it for my dog to eat and even she refused it. Never again and it's the only pud in the village. The sister pub the fox and rabbit is about 2 miles away down a very steep 1 in 5 hill and then up the other side.
