We stayed here for the location and historical aspect. We paid a lot extra for a large suite so we could have AC. First night there was no AC in the living room. Not so bad as we slept in the bedroom. The problem occurred when we found out we had a major emergency at home and had to leave. I understand charging us for the first one as their policy is 48 hrs. But the second night they would not refund because I called at 5 PM on Sat. (So paid for Sunday) but the said check in for Monday was 3 PM so I was 2 hours late in calling. I hope they never have a horrible tragedy happen and have to leave a planned 6 week vacation! NO HEART! The hotel is worth walking through for the history a a very good Pisco sour, but it is just too old to be representing itself as anything grand. Staff was very pleasant although very UNDERSTAFFED. Management is horrible.

The place where Pisco Sour was released, although it came from Morri's bar. An internal bar in a large room with a terrace is a charm with all the glamor of a five-star hotel. A return to the past. It has a collection of old cars inside.

We came to Gran Hotel Bolivar for its famous pisco sour and it did not disappoint. We ordered two different flavors. Both were really good. They were much stronger than the cocktails I'm used to. The view of the streets from the bar was very good too.

I love the Bolivar, have stayed there twice. It's a bit tired in places but that's ok, part of the charm of staying in an old hotel. I found all the staff lovely and helpful and the room was clean, the Chamberlain did an excellent job. The breakfast was not very exciting. Coffee, juice and eggs, fried boiled or scrambled. A slice of cheese and a slice of cheap reconstituted ham came with the eggs. This is called an American breakfast. They could do better. If staying on a Friday or Saturday beware that music from street, shouting and cars honking go on all night. The hotel windows are single glazed and ear plugs are a must. The Bolivar is a charming hotel, I always aim to stay there when in Lima.

I haven't come to the Gran Hotel Bolívar bar for a few months and I find that the price has increased a lot. The price of pisco sour cathedral is very excessive, 48 soles??? The food is very good, the pisco is also excellent but they should consider regulating the price of the pisco sour.

After a while I went to the hotel bar one Saturday afternoon to order a coffee like other times and what I found was everything full, drinks on almost all the tables, loud music and the waiter asking me, with a strange look, if I was sure he wanted a coffee. In the end they brought it to me reluctantly and half cold. They changed for the worse. I will never come back. A shame.

A hotel in the centre of Lima with a great deal of history. In the 70s and 80s it was the meeting place for the elite - stars were always coming and going. Since then, not much has been done or invested in. But perhaps this is precisely the charm of the Granhotel Bolivar. A visit to the museum!
