The Bowman by Greene King Inns

The service here is very friendly and super speedy. The tables were very clean and not sticky, which I always find rare in pubs. Despite it being busy, I didn’t feel like I was waiting a while for anything and the staff were always polite and helpful

We had a fantastic time at the Bowman. Nice reception, superb service and nice food.

On arrival, there was no receptionist at the desk, and I had to wait some time before someone came to assist me. The room was clean and tidy.

The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the full English Breakfast during our stay. On the first night, we arrived back to our room late and found the heating was not working, The room was very cold. We called the after hours number and didn't get an answer. We ended up sleeping fully dressed with our coats on. The next morning, I address the issue with the lady at the front desk. She was very apologetic, and brought a portable heater to our room. We were much warmer the second night. If it wasn't for the heating issues, I would have given a higher star rating.

The weather was wintery when we travelled and arrived at The Bowman by Greene King Inns in Nottingham. There was no one in the small reception, but a notice directed us to the pub just over the carpark. Once we had booked in we were given directions to our room. It was located through an outside courtyard and up some outdoor stairs it was on the first floor ( No. 34) The room was warm when we arrived 23 degrees, plenty hot water, white towels, clean bedding and room. Bath with over the bath shower, iron/ironing board, tea/ coffee facilities, although no hotel telephone. The only issue we had was the heating in the room dropped to 16 degrees later that night, we thought it was on a timer and temperature controlled by the hotel. We intended to speak to the receptionist when we went out that morning, but no one on reception. We spoke to one of the cleaners when we returned after lunch. She advised the temperature could be overrode on the controls in the bedroom. We tried without success to increase the temperature, so when we went out about 4.15pm we were going to speak to someone on reception but it was closed again. We mentioned the problem to the receptionist when we checked out the next morning, so they could have the heating looked at. She advised we should have rang and they would have brought a portable heater. Nice place to stay in warmer weather. Ensure if your mobility isn’t good to get a downstairs room.

Loved the room and facilities, food was excellent. Would've liked the wardrobe and mirror not so near the door as it was freezing. A change of buses to travel anywhere was needed but uber was the solution.

The breakfast was terrible for numerous reasons so go elsewhere The room was perfect however a previous guest had smoked in the room so it smelled.

I have been looking at alternatives to Premier Inn as they are often overpriced and fully booked. I have tried some Best Westerns and found them to be very hit and miss. With my local pub being a Greene King I thought I would give them a go. The hard things with hotels tend to be the hurdles where they fall short . Not on this occasion however . Checking in was simple and ordering breakfast whilst checking in was simple. I did however ask for a vat receipt at this point - not simple ! . I was advised to collect this the next morning. The room was clean, well presented and also nice and warm. Very cosy indeed. Great pub next door with a great choice of food . The staff here are indeed excellent. Maybe they should use name badges in future in order to get some personal recognition. On a whole a great evening and very relaxing. A good nights sleep was had , comfy bed and no noise. Great job. Checking out I stopped at reception to get my receipt before breakfast. There was a sign saying all enquiries would be dealt with at the pub . I went across the way for breakfast and asked for the receipt. The very helpful lady at breakfast told me this would be done by the hotel and took my details. Still no receipt !! Again however the staff at the pub were excellent. I have since had to email Greene King for a receipt and am yet to receive it. Premier inn do make this process much easier. In a busy working week I dont get time to be chasing invoices or recipts from hotels. Would I use them again - An absolute yes . They just need to do the easy things better on the hotel side. Breakfast was great. Good service and tasty food.
