The Melbreak Hotel

Wow!! What an amazing hotel. We arrived in the middle of a power outage, to be met by polite friendly and professional staff, we were made aware of the situation and offered a seat by the fire with complimentary nibbles, we were kept up to date with the situation throughout until power was restored. Considering the disruption, the staff remained calm and all food was delivered promptly and was delicious. The rooms were very tastefully done, well equipped and spotless, beds were extremely comfy and the rooms were toasty warm on a night that got below freezing. Breakfast was really good and we were well looked after by all of the staff. We have to say it is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and would 100% recommend The Melbreak to anyone. Well done everyone concerned

Lovely rooms, really nice welcome from reception and a totally comfortable stay. easy parking, lovely location quiet and set back from a busy road. Lovely rooms, modern, clean and very comfortable. Lovely staff, good Internet connection and choice of television channels.

3rd visit and still very friendly staff,warm welcome, the suite we had was very clean and comfortable, very good selection of quality food on the menu, both for evening meal and breakfast, would recommend to anyone. Luckily was sunny and warm so enjoyed a few drinks in the beer garden,10 out of 10.

Great value hotel. A huge comfortable bed, lovely shower in the en-suite, fantastic food in the restaurant… and incredibly accommodating staff throughout our stay (including storing our bikes in locked garage). We will definitely be back!

We went for a meal last night as we have been previously and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience We were early due to our booking stating we only had limited time at our table we wanted to ensure we were there in good time, having been previously we expected to be asked to wait in the lounge behind the restaurant, we waited at the please wait hear sign continually being looked at by staff but no one came to see us until 25 minutes later a lady came to check if we had a reservation we confirmed we had and we’re informed we were early for our table and would we like to have a drink in the lounge while we waited for our table. I asked at the bar if someone would call us when our table was ready and was informed menus would be brought to our table for us to order then we would be shown into the restaurant. We sat down with our drinks and 10 minutes later another couple sat down with there drinks on the next table The waitress then brought them menus and informed them she would be back shortly to take their order while me & my husband just looked at each other wondering what was going on! At 6.45 pm (15 mins after our table booking) we were just getting ready to leave when a waitress came over with the menus I stated I wasn’t sure if we were staying and my husband mentioned we have been ignored for the last 45 minutes, the waitress did apologise and stated she had just realised we hadn’t been given any menus that’s why she came over and apologised again saying they were really busy. I informed her I totally accept that you are busy but all someone had to do was acknowledge us at the wait to be seated sign explain they were busy and ask us to move to the lounge it was the fact we had been ignored from the moment we got there was the issue, she apologised again and left to allow us time to make a decision on what we wanted to do. Several minutes later she came back and we decided we would order. The meal itself was lovely but yet again we were ignored while eating, the starters were brought then the mains, no conversation there was no water at the table just water glasses I tried to catch someone’s attention to ask for a drink but gave up in the end when they came to clear the mains away and asked if we would like any dessert we just said no and asked for the bill paid and left

Room was very nice great shower very comfortable bed The food in the restaurant was fantastic . Def stay again really nice people great overall experience

Really nice hotel - originally chose it as it was close to family, but the decor and lovely staff keep bringing us back. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing stay, great food and the nicest staff. Facilities were amazing and the room was very spacious. Great location for visiting amazing locations and amazing beaches. Amazing for price and would definitely recommend to all. Thank you for such an amazing time

Well appointed rooms with relaxing bar area and restaurant. Friendly staff happy to help at all times. Good value for money stay. Noticed it has a number of car charging points in the car park for those with electric cars. Rural setting but not far from Workington, Whitehaven and Cockermouth
