The Eagle Tavern

We very much enjoyed our stay. Lovely room, very clean, and the dinner was exceptional. Very helpful staff too. All in all excellent. Worth a visit for the food and an overnight stay after a wine or two

We had a one night stay with dinner recently and what a surprise it was! The Eagle Tavern is a charming little place but blink and you could miss it . We were greeted by Marek, a really helpful and accommodating young man. He showed us to our room which was fine if just a wee bit basic but in fairness the bed was very comfortable and the shower was fine. We thought hat maybe it needed a feminine touch to the room as there was just ‘something’ missing, well there was no wardrobe so that was missing but that isn’t what I mean. However, overall, no complaints. The biggest surprise came with the evening meal, it was fabulous. My husband had haunch of venison and I had the lamb rump and oh my goodness, what a treat! It was so unexpected to find this quality of food in a small, tucked away tavern in a remote village. The rest of the meal was equally good ( tomato soup and cheesecake for one of us) and then in the morning I had the best poached eggs for breakfast I have ever had. They were just perfect. So thank you Marek and crew, if we were local we would certainly be back.

This was our first visit. We came on a recommendation from friends and were not disappointed. All four of us enjoyed an excellent meal. Portion sizes just right - we were advised 2 courses might be enough and we found this just right. Beautifully presented and delicious classics with an original twist, a pleasant light airy dining environment and kind, friendly, informative service. We will definitely visit this restaurant again and would highly recommend.

We were away for a long weekend and ended up staying a 5 minute walk from the Eagle Tavern. We went twice during our visit because the food and service were so fantastic. The Sunday roast was the best I can remember. The team really go out of their way to make your meal special. Really outstanding.

Really lovely food, with the beef being particularly good. Service generally good, but became a little slow towards the end of our meal. Lovely pint of local beer and nice coffee to finish, but would have been nice to have had a small biscuit to complement the coffee.
