Royal Victoria Hotel Snowdonia

Good service . Good breakfast

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of April/beginning of May with a small coach party. The hotel was very well organised in welcoming us with a hot drink in the lounge and giving us the chance to check in whilst seated and choose our menu for that evening. On subsequent days, the menu was on our table at breakfast. There was always a choice of 3 starters, 4 mains including fish and vegetarian options, and 3 desserts. A free glass of wine was given to us on the first night which was a nice touch. The restaurant is situated on the first floor so we had a clear view of the mountains over breakfast at which there was a good range of cold and hot food. Our room had a 6 foot bed which was very comfortable. The shower over the bath worked well and tea and coffee as well as biscuits were supplied and replenished each day. The room was quiet even though it was on a long corridor. The gardens are extensive even containing a small castle which we spotted from a distance. The hotel is well-positioned for Snowdon being a short walk of 50 metres to the Mountain Railway and not much further to the little train that takes you round one side of the lake. The National Slate Mine is walkable too and entry is free. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and the staff were excellent. This hotel is a very good base for trips out and about in North Wales with Llandudno, Por**eirion, Betws-y-Coed and Caenarfon all being within an hours drive.

A good location for exploring Snowdonia, reasonably priced, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff and a great breakfast.

I went solo travelling with a coach tour. I paid for a single room but the hotel forced me to eat with strangers. Just because I share a bus with people doesn't mean I want to spend every moment with them. Very disappointed. Rooms are lovely but the restaurant food and service lets the whole place down. Recommend sticking to the bar.

Me, my partner and our 1 year old daughter returned home today from our 3 night stay here and have already booked a return visit. The hotel it's self has charm, our room was spacious and comfortable. Nice beer, nice wine and delicious food. The panoramic views from this hotel are phenomenal. Breakfast was lovely, a good selection. But one of the key features as to what made our stay here so memorable for us was the staff. So friendly and accommodating ,nothing was too much and they all always put in the effort with our daughter to make her smile. Looking forward to returning

When we arrived at the room, which was nothing like the pictures so not what we originally expected, the room bin was full and there was matter on the loo seat. I cleaned this as it was disgusting but reported it to reception, who were very apologetic and offered to clean it and move us. As we had settled it was not really worth the effort to relocate, but the offer was there. The staff were all friendly and the food was amazing, using local produce in many cases and the service was great in the bar restaurant in the evening and exceptionally great in the dining g room at breakfast. The options were really good and the standard was brilliant. Well placed for the planned coms of snowdonia and local amenities nearby. Really nice views while out.

We loved our two night stay here. The room was lovely, very clean and comfortable - maybe a little on the small side but perfectly adequate. Breakfast had a good selection - including a gluten free range. The staff were great. Location is great. Stay here you won’t be disappointed. Infact I’m disappointed it’s booked up for every weekend I’ve look to return!

Amazing stay with excellent views of the surrounding, absolutely loved it

The breakfast is the cheapest in every way. Everything is wet and stays warm for seconds so you sit with an amazing view wanting to really enjoy it but it’s just tasteless cheap slop. I get that it is never going to be the finest meal and the hotel is not a 5 star hotel but the breakfast is way below par. My partner asked me if I’d come back and the only thing stopping me saying yes is the breakfast. Sort it and you’ve got yourself a decent hotel perfect for people wanting to explore the heart of Snowdonia.
