Please don’t be put off by the negative reviews - I nearly was and we had a wonderful stay. It’s an old beautiful building, full of character inside and out so of course it won’t be immaculate. The staff were so friendly and genuinely cared about your stay. We ate in the restaurant and it was delicious. Huge menu with proper restaurant quality food. We stayed in room 9 and it’s the best family room we’ve ever had - there was actually a door between the super king bed and two singles. We usually have a sofa bed in family rooms so this was a very welcome surprise. Thanks so much for our lovely stay.

Lovely room at first glance but soon spotted a variety of creatures crawling on the floor, walls and skirting boards. The tissue box had only two tissues in it but we killed them with toilet paper. There were hair grips on the floor together with a hairbrush so we suspected the room had not been cleaned. On a plus side there was a whirlpool bath but sadly there was no hot water to go with it so we washed in cold and went to bed. What was unacceptable was being woken at 12.50 with woodlice on and in the bed. We mentioned all this at breakfast, which was lovely, and the lady promised she would arrange for the owner, David, to telephone us. We also emailed our findings to the hotel. David didn't ring, so after a week I telephoned the hotel, spoke to him and re-directed the email as requested. To date we have heard nothing. We knew on booking that the bathroom was due a re-fit. We accepted that and the price paid was reduced to 'only' £250 for the one night. The toilet brush was disgusting. It's such a shame for what on first sight looks a lovely hotel.

I took my partner for a two night stay here. Building grounds are beautiful. The inside is a little tired and needs a little bit of TLC, but David the owner was exceptional. His attention was outstanding. Breakfast was lovely. Chatted to the Scottish guy who served breakfast and the new DIY bloke - such lovely people. We really enjoyed our two night stay and cannot wait to go back. Thank you from Derek and Angie xx

Excellent stay, warm welcome and amazing food. David made us feel very welcome and looked after us. The abbey has a lot of character and a wow factor! We loved the family room and it relaxed in the very grand sitting room after dinner. My only regret is that we had only booked for one night - will book for longer next time! Thank you for a lovely stay. And a shout out to the charming and helpful lady who couldn’t do enough for us at breakfast.

We ate here twice over the Chris**as period, we are local and we eat here on special occasions. The manager/owner here is a lovely person and is an animal lover, he always gives a welcoming chat to all visitors, very professional and treats his staff like family. When we ate here on New Years Day it was a 3 course set menu choice for £24.95 including coffee and mince pies. There were 4 of us and it was no trouble for them to plate up a takeaway for our son who was back from Uni but at home “not feeling very well” (hangover!). I had the soup to start with then the beef- it was delicious. They have had the same head chef here for years and he is one of the best in North Wales. Always amazing food here. Everyone enjoyed their food and they have a lovely room to retreat to to take your coffee.

Bed was uncomfortable.. Shower couldn't be regulated, it went from scalding hot to cold. The TV wasn't programed into any channel. The toilet didn't always flush . Back of the wardrobe was falling off. Hot water tap broken and the sink had a very big crack on it that had been kind of mended. Curtains were hanging off the rail in places. Don't use the salt sellars at breakfast. I will try and post a picture of the one that was on our table.

Can’t fault the meal which we had today at the Maenan Abbey Hotel! We had a warm welcome from the staff, excellent food and great service. Nothing too much trouble - and at a very reasonable cost. Thank you to all the staff.
