We’ve stayed at The Imperial several times, although it has been 6 years since our last visit. Bizarrely we were given exactly the same room as last time, on the 5th floor. At a glance it’s a lovely room with a spacious bathroom and added bonus of a balcony. Last time we stayed, the room was tired, and nothing has been done to improve it. There are numerous marks on the walls and woodwork. The radiators are chipped and going rusty. The carpet, threadbare in places. The curtains/blind are shocking! Stained and ripped. And I’m not sure what’s on the mirrored bath panel. Outside still has the cheap nasty table and chairs, and the outside area is a let down. The cleaners do an amazing job keeping all this clean and looking as best as it can. We only ate breakfast and that too was a let down. Majority is self service and cold. The only real good thing I can say about this visit is the staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive. Please, please, please freshen up this iconic hotel.
