Stayed for 2 nights during a cycling trip to West Wales. Availability was scarce everywhere until we came across this new hotel. The hotel is clearly being refurbished, and in all honesty, has the potential to be lovely when it's complete. Unfortunately it was really not in a state to be open just yet and it was obviously a rushed decision. Positives: - Friendly staff, particularly the maintenance manager who went out of his way to help - Breakfast was really good - and the coffee was top notch - Very clean - Smart TV was great - able to watch Netflix :) Negatives: - Not ready to be open, so a few 'safety' issues around furniture stacked up, hoovers with cables everywhere. No fire information in any of the rooms. We had a fire alarm on our first night and had no idea whatsoever where to go. We didn't see any staff members during the fire evacuation so just followed everyone else in and out. - Check in wasn't that smooth. They had no record of our payment initially, but then found it "on a different system". We'd requested a Twin Room, but ended up with a double. It was sorted eventually after a total staff panic, requiring us to get changed in the toilets and head out for some food while they sorted it. - We locked our room door whenever we left it, but it was always unlocked when we returned. Not great considering we left valuables in the room. - Would have been nice to have had a change of towels for the 2nd night. - Not sure this should be classed as a 'boutique hotel' - the furniture was quite cheap and will fall apart/look shabby after just a few months. It's more of a mid-range hotel £75-£90 a night, not £130. - Could do with nets/blinds on the windows - no privacy from houses opposite and quite bright in the mornings.
