Hotel du Lac

Very nice hotel with good location close to sea and to train station. Discovered too late that GF bread must be ordered in advance. But why don’t they have some in the future. On the booking site you get the impression that room has balcony, but in reality only French balcony.

Hotel is in an excellent location close to the railway station, central Locarno (Grande Piazza), lake steamers and lower funicular station. It has simple elegance with unfussy design. We had a large bedroom, separate lounge with view towards the lake. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Would certainly stay again if on a return visit.

Nice hotel in central location. Nice hotel in a marvellous central location. The rooms were quite new and even if its 15m2 it feels very spacious. The breakfast is great for a 3 star hotel. Only downside was the outside noise still late in the evening / night coming from the surroundings. We went here earlier and we didnt notice it, but this time (Fri/Sat) the youth was hanging around and making lots of noise.

Hotel du Lac offers reasonable rates and a fantastic location, just a short walk from the lake and close to a variety of restaurants. While there is no free parking at the hotel, an underground parking garage is conveniently located nearby. Our room was lovely, featuring a private bathroom and a balcony overlooking the park and Lago Maggiore. My wife especially enjoyed the high-quality in-room coffee machine. Breakfast was included and plentiful, providing a great start to the day. We liked Locarno so much that we decided to stay a second night, but it was challenging to negotiate a reasonable rate with the staff at the front desk. The rooms are accessible by both a staircase and an elevator, which is convenient. The front desk recommended visiting the open market in Feirolo, Italy, but unfortunately, it turned out to be closed during our visit, as it's only open in July and August. That was a bit of a disappointment. Overall, Hotel du Lac is a great option for a comfortable stay in Locarno, despite a few minor setbacks.

Fabulous location. Very good room with 2 balconies with a lake view from one and a little seating area on the other, staff were friendly and helpful. A good coffee machine supplied in the room. Only negative is, the floor of the bath is slippery, really needs a non slip mat in there before someone takes a tumble.

Nice Hotel in centric location, fair priced, nice staff. Close to lake and shopping and eating. Abit loud if you are towards the street and parking is in a public parking. Great breakfast incl. with great view.

The hotel is not on the lake as its name implies. It's only a short walk from the lake and I don't think any rooms have a view of the lake. As we were there only for one night, this didn't worry us as it was close to a few things, including the lake. The bedroom and bathroom are really nicely designed and feel large. Whilst there is no on-site parking, there is a public carpark nearby. The breakfast was quite acceptable. Unfortunately, we had a room facing a pedestrian area and it was very noisy at night with teenagers being over boisterous, so it was a bit difficult to get to sleep initially. Ask for a room on the other side to avoid this.

Great stay in Locarno Lovely room with TWO balconies, view over lake. Easy stroll from station (7-8 minutes, with luggage), immediate access to all- old town, restaurants, funicular to Madonna del Sasso etc, ferries for lake trips,. Staff totally helpful and engaging. Great stay for three nights before stunning train trip to Domodossola .

Nice location Stayed one night. Comfortable and easy access to the train station. There is a closet to store luggage if you arrive before check in. Breakfast was wonderful.
