i did not like this lodge because you had to park and wait for jeep from the lodge to take you about 20 minutes up a steep, rough, windy road. there is no view of the reserve from the rooms. there is no internet in the rooms. there are other lodges that have a view . there is nothing else to do here if you are not gone on safari all day. because it is so high it rained here every day and not in the reserve. has a nice pool but very small

We spent three nights at Mara Engai. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our tent was very spacious with a complete seating area that was great for our family. The view from our deck was amazing from about 1800 meters above the Masai Mara. It was a great base from which to see the Mara Triangle. I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed at tent 4 for 3 nights. It was spacious , comfortable, self contained and had an amazing view of the Masai Mara. The staff are very helpful and warm and they made our stay a memorable one. The chef prepared mouth watering food for each meal and he was also very thoughtful - one evening he specially prepared a dish when he overheard that we did not eat certain food that was served - found this extremely touching. The sunrise was amazing from the base of the camp and we will always remember the four wheel drive to and from the base of the camp and watching elephants pass by. This was our 3rd time in Masai Mara and our first in Mara Engai and we will surely come back here again on our next visit. Highly recommend this hidden gem in Masai Mara - and if lucky one can see a cheetah very close to the camp just as we saw.

We had a terrific time staying at Mara Engai. Though it takes a little extra time to be driven up to and back down off the escarpment to safari, it's well worth it for the incredible views and also cooler, breezier weather up top. The tents are spacious and well appointed, with lovely showers. Unlike some of the other camps in the area, there is plenty to do for kids. They offer a kid's pedicure and manicure at the cute spa (which also has amazing views) -- our daughter, age 10, got the pedicure. There is a small swimming pool, which is great on hot afternoons when taking some downtime from driving around on safari. There is also a scenic viewpoint and a separate picnic area at the top of the hill, which you can be driven to for an outdoor meal (we had a hot catered lunch at the viewpoint that was absolutely fantastic) or for a "sundowner" (drinks at sunset). Our daughter loved the viewpoint because there is a family of shy baboons and also a family of rock hyrax that live just below it that are fun to watch from the rocks. Rock hyrax are these cute furry rodents(?) that like to scream defensively at humans, and their babies look like little baked potatoes on feet. In the lodge there are both indoor and outdoor sitting areas, as well as a bar and a gift shop. The staff were absolutely fantastic. Very kind to kids and really paid attention to every little detail of what we needed. Their level of English was very high. You need to be escorted to and from your tent after dark (required at all lodges in the national parks); at Mara Engai this is done by Maasai warriors dressed in camo carrying a bow and arrows. All in all it was a terrific place to stay.

We had the most amazingly, magical stay at the Mara Engai with our children aged 3, 7, 9. Our parents and brother and his family. The staff were all brilliant, they made us feel so so welcome. After asking me what our children’s favourite food are they specially made child friendly food for our children everyday. The food was some of the most amazing food we’ve eaten. The staff would always greet us by our names and got to know what our children liked, what cutlery they liked to use, which seats they liked to sit at, lots of personal touches. The sundowner and bush dinner experiences were amazing. The games drives were brilliant and the drivers were excellent and very very experienced and knowledgeable. They were really accommodating and happy to work around us and our young family and make changes when needed. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. There’s nothing I would change. The swimming pool was an added bonus, the cocktails and view from the pool are perfect. We loved the location of the hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel.

This is my second visit, the first being in 2017. Still maintaining the same high standard. A warm welcome from the reception team, flawless check-in and check-out. Foodwise, a special recognition to Boniface, the best chef, undoubtedly. Not to mention The Lion Hunter, Daniel - the No. 1 Safari guide in the world! Good job.

This lodge is beautifully situated up on the escarpment with a gorgeous view of the Masai Mara. Fun ride up to the lodge in their vehicle. The tents are situated nicely to give each one privacy. Great food. Great amenities. Very roomy and comfortable luxury tents. A beautiful infinity pool. Lots of trees and birds. I have no negatives about this place. Staff was friendly.

A great place to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the national park. The food is well above any reasonable expectations and the staff is well educated and service minded. Make sure you spend some time in the restaurant and in the lobby and in the bar.

We went on a 4 day safari where we flew out to the “air*****” on the Mara. We were picked up by our tour guide Daniel who was a local to the Masai Mara, like 75% of the lodge. The lodge was incredible, amazing huge tents with comfy beds, waterfall showers and Secuirty to walk you in the dark! The food was delicious and the packed lunches are tasty too (when you are out all day). The days are quite busy with drives and bits, but it’s amazing! Early starts are perfect when you are looking at lion cubs 2 metres away! The rooms get noisy at night but you are in the Masai Mara so you will hear elephants and monkeys and lions! Fully recommend this lodge and also Extra Miles Adventures who organised our trip. Big shout out to Daniel the driver and guide, he was amazing and made our trip! If you are booking please ask for him as he is second to none
