First off, I'm a reasonable and down to earth guy that's not used to luxurious 5 star hotels and neither do I complain or leave reviews very often. But to get to the heart of the matter, I looked around the London Ontario area through Hotwire.com for decent hotels for decent price of course too if possible. I saw this Travelodge by Wyndham come up at a way better rate compared to the rest so I figured maybe Hotwire had a reason for it, maybe they were low on customers for this particular night or something. Anyway as I came near the driveway the hotel looked somewhat outdated from the outside but I figured if the rooms have been kept well that exterior condition could easily be overlooked for that price. As I turned onto the parking lot I was surprised to see a Wyndham hotel yard being so filthy and littered from one corner to the other. But it's a reputable chain so it can't be too bad, I thought to myself. Entering the building seemed ok at first although there was bit of an odour present and unorganized household products scattered in the corner but nothing I thought that would make me turn around. And as I went up to the counter I was "greeted" by an unappealing sleepy eyed guy who handed me the door key card and sluggishly pointed to where my room supposedly was. Walking to where he told me to go I went through an old wornout set of doors that started to give me the shivers as if from a ghost movie. I continued on but soon realized there was no room directing sign that could bring me to my room, so looking around I saw a rather off-putting cleaner in the hallway and asked her if she knew which way my room was, and she was very unsure but pointed in a general area. Walking up to my room the stairs were rug covered but animal hair all over it. The hallways were moldy, odourly and giving off vibes that were very unsettling. There was 3 other tenants in total staying there and they gave off similar vibes which didn't help. But I kept thinking if the rooms are good then the rest I'll try to overlook. As I got to my room, I noticed the door latch/knob had been broken into previously by the looks of it, but regardless it opened as generally expected and now finally my room was in front of me. Despite non-smoking rooms on the itinerary the room had a strong foul odour between smoke, mold and human excretion. Visually the room looked "ok" at first, but lifting off the top layer of blankets there was long hair on the white sheets and urine discoloration on the sheets including foul odour. That's when I decided it was just too much. So I calmly went to the counter and asked him if there was any chance I could get my money back because the rooms weren't as advertised and altogether just too filthy. Thinking for a brief moment he just replied no, no way he would be willing. So without a fuss I walked out and found a different hotel to stay. Reading trip advisor reviews after the fact, I realize I could have avoided it had I done my homew
