An extraordinarily beautiful and quaint hotel in the very popular area of Mayfair. Exquisite five star experience. Amenities and staff are top-notch.

The person who checked us in at the front desk was very friendly, and the location is excellent, but unfortunately these were the only bright spots during our stay. The attitude of the hostess staff at the bar left much to be desired and the room we were given was shockingly small. The Connaught claims that their Superior rooms are 323 Square feet, however the room we were in was no more than 230sf. I am not sure how any 5 star hotel or any other level, for that matter could place guests in this room (#112). It is not meant for more than 1 person and even then it is just ridiculously small. There was literally no room for clothing in the tiny closet or anywhere to store suitcases, and the bathroom was an odd and very narrow shape. It seems the Connaught wanted to squeeze a little more revenue out of the property, but at the expense of their guests’ comfort. In my opinion, room #112 should be re-purposed as a storage closet. Not something I’d expect from a hotel that is deemed 5 star, especially at rates of over $1000/night. As you can see by the photos, the door is not open all the way, and this is because the only spot to place our 2nd suitcase, was behind the door which also partially blocks the bathroom door. The bathroom was comically narrow. We travel a lot and understand that sometimes things do not go as planned and everything isn't always perfect, however bad staff attitudes and miniature rooms are unacceptable. We were offered another room in another part of the hotel, however it had a sewage smell to it and and frankly I was surprised the manager on duty even showed it to us. We were moved to a larger room half way through our last day, which we appreciated. Needless to say, we will not be staying at the Connaught or any of the other properties owned by Maybourne anytime soon. There are too many other excellent options available in London to have to settle for a hotel with a 3-star attitude but a 5-star price.

I booked a stay at The Connaught as a birthday gift for my husband and as a surprise for our upcoming anniversary. We used the hotel's airport transfer service, and it was good. Upon arrival, we were offered a tour of the hotel during check-in, but we were too tired to take it. We stayed in a Contemporary Deluxe room — spacious, modern, with an excellent bathroom, 2 big wardrobes, nice amenities and illumination, though the view was quite poor. In our room, we found a welcome note and a cake for my husband’s birthday, which was a lovely touch. The mattress was rather old, sagging in some areas, and the bed made noise. The TV also needs an upgrade — a smart TV would have been great. We had the continental breakfast every morning, usually just toast and croissants. The service was quite slow. We had pizza for dinner at Jean-Georges, which was excellent, and also visited the Coburg Bar, which we found very charming. We didn’t use the spa or the gym. The hotel is nice, though we didn’t find it particularly luxurious. It has good staff and the best location. Overall, it was a good experience, but not one we would repeat, as we feel the price is higher than the value it delivers.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been to a hotel with such exceptional service. Bars, food, we’re all 11/10. Can’t recommend enough.

My wife and I just spent 3 glorious nights at the Connaught hotel in Mayfair, London. Warning, please do not keep reading if you have plans to stay anywhere else. I have visited 30 countries. My family and I have traveled extensively at luxury hotels, and I have never written a review quite like this. This hotel is one of a kind, and I have been eager to write my review. I am currently at 35,000 feet on the way back to the states! This was a make up trip for back in March, when we actually flew from DC to half way over the Atlantic before we were turned around and sent back to DC due to a fire at Heathrow that closed the airport! Anyway, take 2! We arrived October 10th, after an overnight flight, arriving early at the hotel @ 8:30am. Our suite was not yet ready, but Paola, at the front desk, checked us in, welcomed us with class, and gave us a grand tour. Everything is manicured, and perfectly placed. We took a stroll round and about Regent street, and soon got a call that our Carlos Suite was available 4 hours prior to promised check in. We were escorted in to a bottle of champagne and welcome treats. Months prior, I had told reservations that my wife loved martinis, and enclosed was a nice note, and the Connaughts one and only book of martini recipes along with olives, lemon strips, and their "secret" martini mix to enjoy in our suite! Our suite was more like a small apartment, looking out onto the square. Every inch of it oozes comfort. The best way I can put it.... is that Everything just works at this hotel. it's hard to describe it. In our suite, the bathroom floors (and toilet seat!) are heated. The lighting is perfect throughout. The doors shut without making a sound (so much so that I had to check a few times). When staff says they will do something, it gets done quickly. Whether it was some extra milk to be placed in our mini bar for coffee, or for extra coffee to be delivered, when a staff member promises something, there is a confidence of completion. The shower pressure feels like a spa. Not a speck of dust anywhere. Luxury bedding. They wrap your power cords in mini leather straps each day! My wife took a bath each night. And she swears that the salt and soap came from the garden of eden. Take time to simply enjoy their iconic square flight of stairs, with museum like pieces of art on each landing. And the elevators feel like they were carved by a great artist. If you appreciate the small details of luxury, this hotel is for you. Each morning we enjoyed breakfast in the hotel restaurant, Jean-Georges. Luxurious, delicious, friendly, elegant and fun. Coffee, juice, and hash browns, and eggs, and fruit and ..... Thank you to Tatiana and Amy at the host stand, and Mate, and Adviola, and the others who took care of us. Besides having perfect poached eggs, and granola, and avocado toast, my favorite part was that you could actually get any picture you wanted, lazered onto your cappuccino, in cinnamon foam. No

When we last stayed at the Connaught more than six years ago, we had a tiny room from which we heard everything in adjoining rooms and the hallways. When we complained at check out, the duty manager promised us an upgrade on our next stay. Impressively enough, when I called last month to book a room, the reservation agent found the record. True to its word, the Connaught upgraded us - to a spectacular and somewhat eccentrically Elizabethan junior suite on the fifth floor with double height peaked ceiling, a supremely comfortable four poster bed, a luxurious bathroom, and an adjoining tiny study. The room had the usual overcomplicated and inscrutable lighting controls, but was otherwise lovely - sunlit and large. The welcoming gift of satsumas and a bottle of the house Negroni was much appreciated. We had only two issues during our stay. The first (mentioned in other reviews as well) is the overpowering proprietary floral scent that wafts throughout the hotel - much too much of a good thing. The second was that despite our having received both email and oral confirmations at check in of our reservation at the Connaught Bar, the hostess there had no record of it - and seemed a bit skeptical of our claims even when we showed her the email; it took a little too long to resolve the confusion and, while we appreciated that our cocktails were comped, the glitch was jarringly inconsistent with the otherwise excellent service. Nevertheless, the personal attention, convenient location, and wonderful breakfasts make the Connaught an excellent if somewhat extravagant choice to stay.

From start to finish our experience at The Connaught was wonderful. Firstly, the warm welcome from AJ on reception was much appreciated. Our room was beautiful, extremely comfortable, with all the luxuries you would expect. The food and drink were excellent, particularly the cocktails in the Coburg bar! Everything about the hotel is top notch; however, the stand out element without question is the staff. The service from everyone was impeccable. For us, our weekend stay was a special treat and one made memorable by the exceptional team working here. We hope to return again.
