There is no aircon, no toothbrush & toothpaste provided, no lift and narrow staircase. Hard to checkin to the room with large suitcases, especially in a group with kids. Location is close to Paddington station

Do not book this hotel, u will regret. Beside this hotel , there are many hotels Surrounding .  We (3 adults , 1 elder and 1 child) checked in on 1st Dec 2025 and never expect the staircase was so narrow and small step that is Impossible to let the elderly to bring up the big luggage to 5th floor, we request to change the room to lower floor instead of 5th floor but the receptionist said all fully booked, not sure how true is it ? Luckily she accept we put our luggage at their storage. The receptionist is very helpful and thoughtful to ask us to bring all of necessary cloth and amenities out of luggage. By the time, we unpack one of the luggage, the “old lady” pass by with her very Rude and unfriendly tone shouted to us, we can’t unpacked our luggage there. We told her we only want to bring out our changing clothes and amenities so that we no need to carry our big and heavy luggage to 5th floor. The old lady then walked away and talked to the receptionist ask her to stop us from doing it.  We ask all the Staffs there who is the “old lady” is (manager) but nobody dare to give me her name. We finally meet the old lady again and ask for her name but she refuse to give us her name till I said I want to give her good comment then she finally Gave me her name “Bermq” .

The hotel is right above the subway, and every now and then, a train rumbles through, making the room shake with a loud, booming noise. Like many older converted buildings in London, this hotel has no elevator, so be prepared to lug your luggage up four flights of stairs. The soundproofing is, of course, terrible; it feels like the toilet flushing is right above your head. The mini-fridge in the room woke me up several times with its periodic buzzing! All in all, if you're on a tight budget or absolutely need to stay near Paddington Station, it's still best to choose carefully, and at least avoid places directly above the subway.

I've stayed at this hotel on previous trips to London. The location is a short walking distance from Paddington station. The single room was large enough for one person with a comfy bed. The bathroom and bedroom were clean. Be sure to breakfast early to have the full English breakfast. The buffet starts closing down about 10-15 minutes before service ends so I missed out on it, even though I paid for it.

A lovely old building a few minutes walk from Hyde Park and across the road from Paddington station. Perfect for sightseeing. The staff were polite and helpful. The room suited my needs as a solo traveler who only was there for sleep.

Besides being cheap, everything else was a downside! No elevator, and the stairs were tall and steep! Carrying luggage felt like a death sentence! The location, however, was quite good.

The Hotel is located in the centre. Train, bus, food and restaurant just around the corner. Amazing. The location is the best and most convenient. But the Hotel is not made for certain group of people because there is no elevator. The stairways are taller than most countries and carrying any size of luggage’s are not comfortable. I’ve stayed at the 2nd floor (same building on top of the reception) despite I left request e.g., accessible windows, sunny room or first floor - it was all ignored and not responded through messages either. Throughout the days I could feel the patisserie smell in the room coming from outside as the kitchen was in the basement and the smoke was coming out of the pipe just one floor down to my room. Some times the room felt like located in the kitchen. The stairways smelled bakery smell that went into my room, and so the clothes next day smelled too. The single room with shower and toilet was 7 meter, very very tiny. The cleaning some days was good, some days not. The hotel receptionist was kinda impolite times and made me feel that they are doing a favour for me. The messages or communication not shared between the staff - that would be a great improvement. Also investing in an air purifier could improve the air quality and reduce unpleasant food smell. Some amenities would be nice to add on.

I was disappointed with my stay at the Shakespeare Hotel in Piccadilly. The room was tiny and lacked proper ventilation, making it feel very stuffy. I could hear trains throughout the night, which made it difficult to sleep. The furniture was outdated and the bed was not comfortable at all. The convenient location is the only positive point, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again unless improvements are made.

The hotel is not suitable for the elderly or for guests traveling with a lot of luggage. During our stay, we were assigned a room on the third floor, which can be quite challenging to navigate, especially since there is no elevator and the stairs tend to be very crowded. On a positive note, the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Paddington Railway Station. However, if you plan to drive, renting this hotel might not be necessary. We also noticed that the furnishings and amenities inside the hotel are quite old, which could be a drawback for some visitors.

We booked a family room, but we were given two separate rooms. The room was very hot, and there was no air conditioning. We slept with the windows open, but the scaffolding had made the windows unprotected due to the paint renovation, and there was a strong smell. It was an uneasy, stressful stay. If you can, don't choose it.
