I've stayed in City Hotel on many occasions and even booked and celebrated my 40th birthday party here.. Whilst the service has always been great on previous visits, I feel it's really gone downhill.. My husband and I booked the 7th floor for Jazz as we do every year.. The room was lovely, clean, with a few complimentary soft drinks in the fridge and welcoming malteaser chocolates.. unfortunately, the service was terrible 😕 I asked a young girl for two coffees and a tea at the bar on the Monday, and she just grunted at me.. I understand she had a busy weekend and was tired.. but 30 mins later, we had to ask again.. a lovely young fella apologised and brought them straight over.. We stayed to watch jazz on Monday also and had a large crowd of family members come join us, including my two daughters.. I ordered them dinner from the menu and it was just awful.. my daughters chicken gougons were burnt and inedible.. my other daughters margherita pizza was no joke an iceland pizza heated up and also overdone! I had to ask for my daughters chips three times to accompany her gougons.. The young boy kept coming back saying he left them already.. He did indeed leave 2 Chips and chicken gougons for my sister and her son.. which was a separate order.. The lack of customer service as if I wanted a free chip has really left a bad taste in my mouth! My daughter paid £29.50 for their burnt gougons and iceland pizza and chips that finally arrived.. I spent the whole day Sunday and Monday ordering drinks with friends and staying over.. To be made to feel dishonest was embarrassing.. Will I return.. Yes probably.. But I feel staff need some serious training on customercare and service.. and the chef needs to really up the standard of food being handed out as acceptable!
