The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially David in the dining room and Marty in the snug. The only issues were that one room we had did have some mould on the ceiling and that the roundabout the hotel is situated on is terrible to get onto. The roundabout could really be doing with traffic lights although this is out of the hotels control. Great food and the rooms are a great size for 2.

Went to hotel for dinner. I live locally, but had not been in the hotel for a while. Very disappointing, I found it very dreary, looked exactly the same as it did about three years ago. Time for a remodel of the dining room ? Horrible dull ‘beige’ colours everywhere. No life, no a**osphere. What’s with the big projection screen on the wall ? Showing a film from the 40’s, with the sound turned off, and pop music playing. If this hotel wants to attract tourists, I suggest they modernise right away, and how about some nicer music, get rid of the big screen on the wall ! The food was ‘ok’ at best, not very good at all, and pricey. Altogether, not a good experience. Would not recommend.

Waterfoot hotel is a lovely hotel very clean. Staff are great very friendly. Room: safe, tea facilities, iron, hair dryer not to good, beds comfy, electric fan, not many wardrobe hangers, shower gel, nice shower, water on arrival in room. Restaurant: had lunch which was lovely good choice. Self service breakfast at weekends. Fresh fruit. Weekdays order breakfast good selection. However no fresh sliced fruit. 5 mins from Liffey bridge. Easy to find from A6.

We went to watch a band during The Jazz Festival & what a disappoin**ent. The band was excellent & that is why we chose the venue but the a**osphere was appalling. Management did nothing whatsoever to make the band or their customers feel welcome. Throughout the performance the management decided to project a black & white WAR film on a loop above the band stage.. I have never felt so embarrassed at a venue.

Waterford Hotel - allegedly 4star. Every large town in Ireland has one of this type of hotel - a gathering place for locals as we found out on our Sunday night stay this month. Firstly - on the good side there is a free and huge off street car park so don’t worry about driving here. Otherwise it’s a perfectly good hotel for an overnight stay and is reasonably priced at £130 including full breakfast for two but don’t expect a great hotel - it’s adequate, generally clean but don’t look for what passes for a 4 star hotel in other countries. It is some distance outside the city centre - they say it’s a short stroll to the city but it’s well over an hour’s walk if, like me, you walk more slowly than most.. However, it’s not really an hotel you would go to enjoy what Derry city itself has to offer the tourist and it has no facilities like a swimming pool to keep the family otherwise amused. Stephenie on reception does a great job on her own dealing with customers and when we were there she really was working all day long. Well done Stephanie. The rooms are small but adequate - nothing much by way of amenities though. The double bed was only 4’ wide - a bit small for us and the room is very hot during the day (you cannot turn off the central heating) But we managed to set up our own air conditioning using an open window and the provided portable fan to pull in cool air. Wireless internet is fine so no worries there but there are no USB points so bring an adaptor for your gadgets. The TV signal is poor and noisy neighbours demonstrated the lack of good sound insulation. Oh yes - the loo seat collapsed on us and the shower needs a good clean around the seams. It’s a busy hotel - the social centre for the area. They have a pub which we did not visit and a wine bar cum restaurant which was packed when we went for dinner at 6.30pm. However, service was good, as was the food quality, the menu choice and the wine selection. Serving staff coped very well - the only problem being the bill which took 3 tries to get right 1 they forgot to include all the drinks we did have 2 they changed that but added drinks that we didn’t have 3 all ok Would we stay again - no I don’t think so - there are so many other choices. They won’t need us to stay again as they are so busy anyway!!

Nice food, the “snug bar” was great. Exceptional barman Kevin was very friendly and great to chat too - needs a pay rise!

The reason I gave this a 5 star is because of the staff and not the hotel unfortunately there website really needs a looking at and update. But the man with the plan was Martin in the snug bar he made everyone oso welcome and for sure brought in the customers without Martin the bar wouldn't take half the money it does. Martin I run two bars you can come work with me anytime, one of the best bar persons I have ever seen and believe me that is hundreds. Let me retract and say the best bar person I have ever seen what a great man at his job, dedicated the personality he has I could go on but I will finish by saying what a great time myself Jonathan Donnelly and Jackie Collins had with Martin loves the crack. Good luck with your award Martin you deserve it. I will be back next month to see you I was at the hotel for three days he looked after everyone I considerer him a friend👍
