Overall, another outstanding experience. This was our third stay at "The Resort" in as many years. Each of the last two trips, we've increased the length of stay from the prior year. That right there should speak to how much we enjoy it. We had a "beach view" room which was actually over the pool with a clear view of the beach as well. Some "beach view" rooms are not over the pool. We like being over the pool as well, so we request it. There are also rooms available with golf course views or a lagoon view (which seems like it would be very quiet, but we never tried it) The rooms are spacious with a small kitchen with refrigerator, and small clothes washer and dryer.... all are wonderful conveniences. They are perfect for keeping simple breakfast foods and for washing wet swimwear, etc. There is daily housekeeping service that keeps everything at a high level of cleanliness. The resort is convenient to all that is on Longboat Key, St Armands, and Sarasota. I recommend having a car, though the resort does provide some shuttle services. Service by the staff is always friendly and very accommodating. They are obviously trained to always be helpful. As resort guests, you get access to the private restaurants, and other facilities that are otherwise limited to members of the exclusive Longboat Key Club. Of the restaurants, we like Portofino's located on the harbor. Otherwise we usually take a short drive to various other fine restaurants on the island or St Armands. Hint: For some of the better restaurants, make dinner reservations in advance of your trip. Our daily routine while at the resort was to use the excellent health club facilities each morning located adjacent to the golf course. There are plenty of free wights, strength machines and cardio equipment. Yes, the resort is very expensive with lots of expensive add-ons. Be prepared for that. If you go with the idea of watching every penny, you will not enjoy it. In return, you get a very high end experience which, for us is worth it.
