Yongding Tulou Xiangxu Tianya Mingyue Dao immersive Theater Theme B&B

The room was just okay, and the service was pretty subpar. I'd booked thinking there would be a performance on-site for an immersive experience, but when I arrived, I was told the show had been moved to the scenic area and didn't even include the entrance ticket. For over 1500 a night under these circumstances, it felt outrageously expensive! However, the Yongding Tulou scenic area itself was still enjoyable during my stay in China.

I checked in on the first day of the Chinese New Year, thinking I had found the best B&B, but it fell far short of expectations and didn't justify the nearly 1500 yuan room rate. The staff were all on holiday, and the traditional costume experience was also closed. I booked this B&B because I was attracted by its unique Tulou performance, but there were absolutely no performances or bonfires during the Spring Festival, which was disappointing. Although the owner provided us with tickets to the scenic area to watch a performance there, the overall experience was still not ideal. The Tianya Restaurant at the hotel also charged a cutlery fee. Shouldn't restaurants provide cutlery as standard? This is an objective review for your reference.

Staying in a modern room within a centuries-old Tulou was an incredible experience! They even installed an elevator in the Tulou, which was a thoughtful touch. The location is right next to the Tulou Prince scenic area, and there's parking available for those driving. What made it even better was the fantastic evening show; we specifically came for it and felt it was totally worth the trip! My only minor complaint is that the mattress was a bit too soft, and after a day of driving, it wasn't great for my back. Luckily, there was a firm daybed I could sleep on. I'd recommend visiting during the off-season; it's quieter at night, and you'll feel like you have the whole Tulou to yourself for photos. However, it's still a good idea to bring noise-canceling headphones, otherwise, you might get woken up early by tour groups checking in.

Highly recommend the Yongding Tulou Xiangyu Xu! This ancient-style guesthouse, converted from the 500-year-old Huanxing Building, is absolutely stunning. The atmosphere, infused with elements from the 'Tianya Mingyue Dao' IP, is fantastic. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the Hanfu experience and immersive theater are incredibly engaging. The staff are warm and attentive. Breakfast features delicious Hakka flavors, and it's super close to the main scenic area. My stay here was simply perfect!

Converted from a 'tulou' (earthen building), the soundproofing isn't great, which is understandable given the structural challenges. However, the bedding was surprisingly good – clean and hygienic. Opening the door in the morning let in lovely sunshine, and the evening performance was unique and very entertaining; the kids absolutely loved it. The location is also excellent.

This guesthouse is right at the entrance of the Fujian Tulou Prince Scenic Area. We visited during road construction, but parking was available right outside. The guesthouse itself is a converted Tulou, and the rooms are well-equipped and very comfortable. It's truly impressive how well a 500-year-old Tulou has been renovated. In the evenings, there were Hakka cultural and art performances. The service was excellent, and breakfast offered a good variety. Overall, a very satisfying stay during our road trip.
