The wayfarer is a novelty hotel concept that mixes art deco with a very basic yet sophisticated experience. It took me a while to understand some of the differences between this concept and my usual classical hotel past experiences. Although the overall stay was fine, some details stood out, no free water in the room (not even one small bottle), no water kettle or any coffee or tea, no fridge, no cups or glasses, these things apparently don’t fit in the Wayfarer concept for some odd reason, which I failed to understand. Also I was so unfortunate to stay on the inner side of the building next to an ally, which had load noises from what sounded like a garbage truck that came abruptly in the very early hours of the morning, which added to my lack of sleep due to jet lag. Otherwise a very nice property with spot on cleanliness and house keeping, the food quality and coffee taste at the Gaslighter on the lobby floor were perfect, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. After checking out, they never sent me my invoice—they simply charged my credit card without any explanation. I had to call the hotel myself to request the bill. When I finally reviewed the invoice, I noticed they had added a food and beverage charge of $74.75 at The Rooftop, which I never made. I called again and they told me they would “investigate and get back to me,” but they never did. This lack of communication, incorrect billing, and failure to follow up is unacceptable.
