The Hollywood Franklin Hotel Near Universal Studios

Stayed here for 4 nights as a homebase for our LA trip, was in a good location for access to Hollywood sign and Hollywood drive, was also easy to get to Universal via metro. Room was a decent size and clean, front desk staff were great. Pool was heated and nice, only thing was the pool light is hanging out rather than being attached to the wall so could do with being repaired.

Very friendly on arrival, the rooms are very quirky and retro. This was a base for us so we didnt spend alot of time in the room. We ate at the diner on the corner, which is attached the hotel. The food is good with a friendly atmosphere, and handy if hungry and don't plan to go far. The pool was probably the best thing! heated to 30 - nice in the evening to have a swim and relax.

We stayed 1 night 4th Sept. Had a good room, city view. 3rd floor, the room was good size and had a safe, microwave and fridge, sofa and storage. the nice touch in the bathroom of cotton balls and q tips. the guys on reception when we arrived were really lovely. good location as we went to Griffith park in the evening, it was a bit noisy from the roads but we slept well, beds were comfy. the hollywood sign is close by and the view from a few streets over is worth a walk/drive.

The decor is full of old hollywood photos and a general 1950's vibe, which is quite fun... although having a picture of Audrey Hepburn watching you shower is slightly off putting. But jokes aside, it's close to all the main Hollywood attractions, the diner next door is a destination in and of itself, and the rooms are large and comfortable. My only real complaint is that there is zero noise protection. You'll hear footsteps above, voices beside, and garbage trucks outside. Most of that gets drowned out by the AC though.

Whether or not this is a good deal price-wise might depend on the timing, but this is in any case a good Hollywood-themed hotel. The interior incl rooms were beautiful, but at night further construction was ongoing in the hallways. The diner downstairs was out of our budget, so we bought our food at the Trader Joe's nearby. The Hollywood sign is visible from the rooftop, which was accessible via the stairs. Hollywood (inc walk of fame) and subway station to visit Universal Studios or the LA downtown are within walking distance. Bus stop right outside the hotel. Parking overpriced, so makes sense to avoid, unless necessary. The staff at the check-in counter were very friendly and helpful. The gym was very basic, but at least the treadmill was working. We did not have time to try out the pool, which was in the courtyard.

Terrible experience from start to finish. The hospitality was absolutely lacking — the front desk staff were rude and unhelpful, and the manager was even worse. No one answers the phone, and when you finally get through, they refuse to assist with even the simplest reservation changes. There’s no interest in helping guests — just a dismissive attitude and zero accountability. This place feels more like a scam than a service. Stay far away — they’ll take your money and offer nothing in return.

A lot of the staff members were super rude!!!! Only met one nice staff member and that was the valet guy (night time) . The shower was horrible as well . The water was scorching hot and couldn’t change the temperature. The AC did not work it was blowing out super hot air . We woke up in the middle of the night dripping in sweat . The morning valet guy was super rude as well . Made it seem like it was an inconvenience to him that we were checking out and that he had to get the car . Maybe pick a different profession if you’re going to get upset when it’s time to work ? The energy in the hotel was super eerie as well . I wish I could get my money back !!!!!!!!! Super disappointed

I visited this hotel for one night on a solo trip. I was looking for a hotel at a reasonable cost, in walkable proximity to Hollywood and Griffith Park with clean, modern amenities - And this hotel was perfect. Whilst ticking those boxes, the hotel has so much character and has that Hollywood feel to it. The hotel has an old-style layout but has been furnished lovely. The room was spotless, large and had every amenity needed, including free safe and coffee machine - More than enough needed in a place where you won't be spending much time in the room! The location was ideal to walk to Hollywood walk of fame and Griffith Observatory, which took around an hour to get to the top - I recommend the walk at sunrise for an unforgettable experience. Like much of LA, there was homeless people around the area, which I can imagine being intimidating for families, but as long as you mind your own business I doubt you would have any issues. I 100% recommend The Clark Street Diner connected to the hotel. The atmosphere, staff and food are excellent with plenty of options and large portions - It was by far the best breakfast I had during my time in the states. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel for all groups and those travelling solo.
