The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is quite dated and the front desk is manned at limited times of the day.

Restaurant awful, food awful , beds smelt musty and so did room , shower curtain disgusting , carpet sticky , hubby burnt his feet in showe water was scolding hot . This place is dated and tired, breakfast in the orangery was the onky saving grace, we invited family over for a meal as we were only stopping one night , if I’d have known we would have eaten out, food was overcooked, only a tiny menu and still couldn’t get it right , and only one vegetable lasagne left , restaurant was empty, no lime for a lime and soda ♀️ the restaurant was awful,setting and smelly .

Really poor experience.
The hotel is tired, tatty and musty. The staff are any combination of incompetent, unmotivated and under resourced
Breakfast was a joke, 30 minutes we waited to put an order in, nothing. One member of staff tryimg to cover 30 people across multiple rooms.
Had to leave and find a McDonald's in the end.
Avoid like the plague, much better places to stay locally.

Upside,
Staff helpful, polite and welcoming.
Good hot choices on the menu for Breakfast Bed comfortable, slept well.
Downside
Decor and furniture is tired.

we arrived late and were not really impressed with the Hotel in general, our room was dirty i.e. dead bugs on window sill crisps on floor carpets heavily stained beds were uncomfortable just really poor.
I complained the following morning, you can't blame staff as it's not their hotel so it's up to upper management / owners to really take a hard look at this and make changes drastic changes sooner than later.
Anyway Michelle the on duty manager was very helpful and understanding and offered us two new rooms as there were me my wife and our son staying.
The rooms were far better than our first but again cleanliness was poor (bedding okay and towels)
In my opinion it's just being run on a shoestring and understaffed.

A very warm welcome. Lovely crisp clean sheets and pillowcases. Polite, friendly and helpful staff.
Ideal location for visiting student children.
Perfect poached eggs breakfast time.
