Thongbay Guesthouse

What an amazing place!! Great location about 30 minutes from the main part of town. Beautiful garden location to stroll through. Breakfast brought to your balcony over looking the river. Fantastic staff who go above and beyond to help you with anything and everything. There's a great little hair and beauty salon about 3 minutes walk from the resort. My sister and I loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Thongbay was amazing! Staff were wonderfully attentive and I felt like a very valued guest. Rooms were simply furnished but everything you needed was there from mosquito nets to fridge. I loved the view, and the breakfast, served on my balcony, was delicious. The shower was powerful, the pool divine and the gardens simply beautiful. I had been a little worried about the location as it’s outside the town but need not have been - there’s a free mini van each way multiple times a day but I did walk once and it only took 20 minutes. Plus I was grateful to be outside the noisy town. If you’re not a fan of nature this might not be the place for you, but I felt it was exactly what I needed - falling asleep to the sound of frogs and cicada, and waking to birdsong. My only regret is that I couldn’t stay longer!

The manager was very accommodating and friendly, he couldn’t have done more for us & the staff were very helpful! Although a little out of town the free shuttle bus was very prompt & we used it a lot. Beautiful natural surroundings and river-view as well as great breakfasts served to our rooms. The bread and Laos coffee was superb!

10 out of 10. Everything is good for this hotel. Manager Ti welcomed us warmly and helped us by arranging tour services. Amenities and tropical garden were very exotic. The attitudes of the staffs were amazing. Free shuttle service to the city center and the airport was very convenient. Definitely come back and recommend.

This place far exceeded my expectations. The grounds are lovely, you walk through a garden to get to the bungalows on the river. The service is impeccable, down to the little details but also with a warmth that feels like a family welcoming you as new friends vibe rather than servants sucking up to you. Just ridiculously nice and helpful people. Informative check in. There's a pool with sun chairs if you get tired of chilling on the balcony. Food is fantastic, from breakfast delivered to your door to dinner (try the lemon coconut chicken, you'll thank me later). Rooms are in good condition with ac and fan. Wifi everywhere. The only reason this might not be for everyone is it isn't downtown -- but that's also a plus for the peace and quiet and there are free shuttles there and back six times a day (and it's super cheap and quick if the times don't work for you). An absolute steal at this price and if you think it's not a good place to stay there's something seriously wrong with you.

We had a really wonderful stay at Thongbay Guesthouse. Our hosts could not have been more helpful - straight away they offered us an upgrade to a ‘river view’ bungalow as they thought the others might be too busy for us with other families staying. They also made sure we had everything we needed with regards to transport into town and use of swimming pool. Although the guesthouse was a little far from town, they provided free transport in the day and evening which was amazing. It was also possible to walk to town if you really wanted! We thoroughly enjoyed the food served in the restaurant, which we thought was reasonably priced. The bungalows themselves are well cared for and rustic - fantastic value for money. Would recommend staying here for a trip to Luang Prabang.

This place is great! The value is excellent. To have your own bungalow, facing the river, with breakfast every morning brought to your balcony so you can watch the fishermen in the river in the morning. Just spectacular. Also, the gardens on the property are beautiful.
