Hotels near Royal Palace & National Museum, Luang Prabang

The hotel is perfectly located: in the city center yet on a quiet street. There are two temples nearby, and we even watched the morning procession of monks from our room. We booked a standard room, and they upgraded us to a family room free of charge. The staff are incredibly caring and attentive, but also very discreet. It feels cozy and home-like here. Your inner aesthete will rejoice; you'll want to examine every detail of the interior. I definitely recommend it! We'll stay here again on our next visit to Luang Prabang. Thank you! Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a better room. The room was meticulously cleaned, and the floor was spotless. The service was exceptionally attentive and warm, making us feel very comfortable. We had electric cart service from the lobby to our room, and they helped with our luggage. Away from 'Yangren Street' (foreigner's street), it was very quiet and felt like a true resort. There's a free shuttle bus every hour to 'Yangren Street' (Post Office), and back, also every hour (it's best to book your return time in advance). The ride takes about 10 minutes, which is very convenient. The breakfast was plentiful, with freshly cooked Vietnamese pho, various made-to-order egg dishes, and freshly prepared coffees. There are three pools, and the rice paddy views are fantastic. There were even small rabbits and water buffalo, and it wasn't crowded. A special thanks to Ariel from China, who helped print my child's homework, recommended the elephant sanctuary, and assisted with booking our return charter car. We also received a complimentary late check-out until 4 PM. Drawbacks: The linens were a bit old, the mini-bar was chargeable (drinks and beer), the pool bottoms weren't very clean, and the toiletries were quite basic.

Our stay had a lot of high points and a lot of low points. Starting with the high points, the grounds and room were incredible. Our experience at the spa was one of the best we’ve had. The cocktails and Laos-style burger we had for lunch one day were phenomenal. The staff were charming and very accommodating. However, there were a few aspects that were far below the experience expected of a 5 star hotel. First, cocktail service around the pool was abysmal. On almost every occasion we had to go searching for a staff member to take our order, and then the cocktails more often than not took more than half an hour to arrive. This is despite the fact that we seemed to be the only people ordering F&B at that time, i.e. they were not busy at all. Second, the breakfast was a disappointment every day - we were told we could order eggs or noodles, and had to repeatedly press the staff to find out what type of eggs and noodles, and we only discovered on the last day that there was a menu with additional options. We ordered poached eggs on toast, and the eggs had not been drained of excess liquid, and the bread was entirely soaked through. An order of waffles took over an hour to come out - first it was delivered as a pancakes, and then they just forgot about it despite repeated follow ups. The “local” Laos options lacked flavor - very little of the herbs and spice that makes Laos food great. I think this and the pool service issue are primarily the result of a lack of training and instruction for staff - they were clearly doing their best, but did not know what to do. Third, the pool area needs a lot more spent on maintenance. The decking is cracking and falling apart. The mosaic tiles in the pool are falling apart, A LOT of the tiles are missing, and I got a very large laceration on my forearm from the sharp edge of a tile sticking out. If this pool were in a western jurisdiction, it would not meet health and safety standards. Fourth, the gym was not worth visiting if you want to lift weights. Possibly the worst weights offering I’ve seen for a hotel of that price and with that much space. We want to reiterate how great and enthusiastic the staff were. I think this is primarily a management oversight, training, and maintenance capex issue.

The room itself is beautiful (though it did carry a strong cigarette smell, sadly 🚭). The toilet is on the smaller side, but the shower is huge with amazing water pressure. We enjoyed our stay at the 3 star Mekong Charm Hotel, so we decided to stay two night longer than planned. The location is wonderful. The breakfast Terrace is directly above the Mekong river. The hotel manager lives for her work and is very helpful and friendly. We had nothing to care for. She organized a motorcycle and our train trip to Vientiane. If we come back to Luang Prabang this hotel will be our first choice.

The room was great and the environment was good too. However, since my colleague couldn't book a room for the extended stay, I tried to negotiate with the hotel to cancel my reservation. The hotel rejected my request several times, despite me explaining my concerns as a woman traveling alone. I absolutely had to move to another hotel. This was inconvenient for safety and work, as our clients require on-site support, meaning we need to be on standby and they pick us up from the hotel at any time. Being in different hotels would mean picking people up from different locations, which is super inconvenient. I repeatedly troubled the staff and their superiors to discuss this, but to no avail. I feel that the platform shouldn't offer a negotiation interface if it's not going to be flexible, or at least consider the user's actual situation. My entire stay was good, but the final experience was ruined by the negotiation. Although they eventually agreed, I was so frustrated I actually cried at the time. They were so inflexible.

The stay experience was very good, the sound insulation needed to be improved, the room was clean and tidy, the facilities were complete, the bedding was comfortable and the rest was good. There is Chinese service at the front desk, and check-in and check-out are very fast. The hotel is conveniently located, convenient to travel, and the overall price is very high. Next time you have the opportunity to stay in Luang Prabang, you will choose to stay.

Facilities: The room was clean and tidy, especially the bedding which was very comfortable. Toiletries were complete. Environment: The pool downstairs was cleaned daily, the water was well-filtered and had no strange odors. The distant scenery was pleasant. Service: The staff spoke Chinese, and arranging transportation was very convenient. Breakfast was plentiful.

Everything was fine hotel is situated off the main street which more quiet then other hotels on the main street staff were friendly and courteous, very helpful as for the hotel, I have booked a room with terrace and I am not sure that was the room I have got still I would recommend anyone who wants to come to Luangprabang.
