The view was fantastic, and the drive up there was great too.

This is the only place to stay (unless you camp) on the Skyline Drive. You could stay outside the park, but I wouldn’t recommend it, as it takes a long time to travel the Skyline Drive. The rooms are basic, but comfortable. Ours had a very dusty floor, but the bed was clean and comfortable. View from our room was breathtaking. We ate in the Skyland and we enjoyed it. It’s not “fine dining” but it’s well cooked and hit the spot! If I were doing the Skyline again, I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at Skyland for the convenience to the park. Located about halfway down Skyline Dr, it is rustic and nothing fancy but does the job. Has a restaurant and “taproom” which is really just a bar connected to the restaurant. Also has a Starbucks like coffee bar for pastries, coffee and pre made breakfast sandwiches. Most likely you will need to drive everywhere on the property because very spread out. I had cellular service in my room. Stayed in the Birmingham building 117 - awesome view from my deck.

My family of four (two adults, two teens) had such a lovely quick visit to Skyland Resort. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the food at the Pollock Dining Room was great. We would definitely go back and stay there again.

We have stayed at many hotels/lodges in both NPS and State run facilities. Skyland is by far the worse we have ever experienced. While the restaurant was fair, and all the people gave fine service, the room was crappy. The AC/Heater made the room stink of mold. We had to open the windows to air it out on a cold night. The other wall heaters had so much dust and filth on them that we were afraid that they would catch fire if used. There was copious amounts of mold in the shower and on the shower-head. The windows had been painted on and never scraped clean. This had occurred on the bathroom walls and shower as well. There were large patched places on the walls that had never been painted. The bathroom fixtures were ancient and provided too few surfaces where people could set toiletries. The door locks were so poor and weak that my wife stated she would never have stayed there on her own, or with her girlfriends. There was no refrigerator in the room to store the leftovers from dinner, nor was there a microwave with which to warm things. If this were a $60/night discount hotel, I would expect these things, but for this price it should be much better.

I mean if you're bare bones, then this is your place! We recently were infested with Ladybugs and mice running around then this is your place. Our room also had leaks where cold air just blew in unrestricted. This place isn't great but if you knew you were going to be roughing it for a few days then by all means come!

I had decent expectations from this resort rooms but this is the worst hotel room I ever stayed in. When we entered the room first time the doors were not easy to open first time but then I got used to of it. But, soon after our entry we realized that none of the room lights were working, except the entrance and bathroom lights. We called front desk and they asked us to keep trying by turning switch on and off, guess what it worked after trying 7-8 times. The next surprise was, toilet flush stopped working intermittently. Housekeeping service was pathetic, first day they didn’t make bed or change towels but refilled coffee supplies. Second day even after requesting housekeeping service they just changed one towel and didn’t do anything. We requested and paid for no obstruction room for the outside balcony valley view but we had trees and bushes blocking the view. Buffet breakfast was same for both the days, NO CHANGE AT ALL. Overall not even close to what I expected and worst than what I would have ever imagined for the money we spent.

Our stay was wonderful, although too short. I suggest the average stay to enjoy all available to see and do at Skyland, would be a five day stay. I have been going to Skyline Drive for over 20 years and have always stayed at Skyland Resort for their overall cleaniness of accommodations and the excellent service for receive.
