Aracan Eatabe Luxor Hotel

This hotel can only be described as dilapidated and dirty. I have to give it the lowest rating I've ever given a hotel in my ten-plus years of using Trip.com. I hope my small effort can help lower its rating and warn Chinese tourists to steer clear. The room floors weren't swept, with dust and hair everywhere. The towels and sheets were thin and grimy. Even during the Chinese New Year holiday, when hotels like the nearby Winter Palace Hilton drastically raised their prices, this place actually lowered theirs, which speaks volumes about how many empty, dirty rooms they had. Independent travelers, please do not choose this hotel. Group travelers, if your tour has booked you here, consider if you've signed up for a budget tour. If the tour price was low enough, then just suck it up. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars for environment is because the balcony offers direct views of the Nile and the hot air balloons over the West Bank.

The location is fantastic, directly facing the Nile. You get a direct view of the feluccas on the river and the hot air balloons on the opposite bank. Local drivers and carriage drivers all know this spot, and it's not far from the pier or Luxor Temple. The hotel is a bit old, and the facilities are also dated, but everything is functional and doesn't detract from the experience – it actually suits the ancient charm of the area. The hotel service is decent, though check-in can be slow, often taking over half an hour. The room size is comparable to a budget hotel in China, not a high-end hotel, which might impact your experience. However, the balcony is beautiful. It's lovely to sit there, enjoy the stunning view opposite, and have a drink. Breakfast is just average, nothing special.
