The Trusty Servant Inn

We had lunch here after a long drive and it was such a a relaxing place. The pub is quirky with historic interest and friendly staff. We felt welcomed and it had a range of lovely ales and choices for vegans. It has a large beer gared and well-planted borders. Plenty of space for groups outside and decent value too.

The rooms are accessed via a separate entrance to the pub. No one from the company is on site at night, only the guests. There is a policy not to leave your children alone in the rooms, due to the lack of staff on site at night we now understand why. Only come here as a family if you're prepared to sleep in a double bed with your child! Quite noisy over the pub until closing, but you expect that. Otherwise very quiet at night. The staff were very friendly, we were lacking a couple of towels on the first night, a member of staff found a temporary replacement. The breakfast was lovely, only marred by a charge for our chosen juice (not mentioned when ordering our breakfast) which has kindly been refunded after an email to the manager. The shower room has an incredibly small basin in room 1, very tricky to scrub teeth in. I understand space constraints but it's tiny. Very hard to fill the kettle for the room. Tea etc was provided. Mattress in room 1 needs replacing as the strings pinged when we moved but the room 2 had a very comfortable mattress. All in all we were happy with our stay. Gorgeous area of the New Forest too.

Positives: location is great, staff is friendly, nice beer garden, chips and beer were good. Negatives: mattress was hard and uncomfortable, tiny bathroom with miniature basin, lots of noise in room, both from utilities and from people talking very early in morning. Sorry but the vegan food was frankly awful (apart from the chips).

This was the best pub stay that we have ever stayed so far. The staff were very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The room and ensuite were fantastic,so clean and roomy. Bed was comfortable, we had the best night's sleep ever. We had booked a table for the evening. The food was out of this world. The crumble was to die for. Best ever tasted. Breakfast was a struggle after the evening meal, had to down size, but as everything else it was fantastic. We have found our pub to stay, when we are in the area for ever more. Making arrangements to when we can return. So peaceful, and yet near to everything we wanted.

Excellent location to travel to Southampton, just make sure you use the roundabout to get onto the M271 do not try and access from dual carriage way. Food is fantastic in the restaurant, so much choice and from the area, great setting inside cosy with two fires. The room I stayed in was the smallest room 4 but was just what I needed, double bed, small bathroom and large TV, no complaints. Might be on the tight side for two people but depends on how you get on as a couple. Fantastic walks in the area, well worth a visit, staff are excellent.

A beautiful setting and a great place to stay. We will definitely be keeping this on our list of preferred places andhope to visit again in the not too distant future. Amazing breakfast set us up for a day of Super Cars at the museum and the New forest is so beautiful at this time of hyear. Thsnks for a great night . Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Nice quite location just needs a bit more of a fresher update

Excellent all round.

Lovely place to stay if youre traveling through, the room was spacious and clean. The bed is a bit on the soft side for us. Best to remember it is a pub/restaurant and you can hear the drone of music until around 11.30. There is a separate entrance to the rooms but there is an adjoining door to go through for breakfast. Food is delicious with plenty of choice and the service excellent.
