Quaint hotel with lovely balconies. Fireplace, comfortable beds and a variety of pillows. Very nice bathroom with walk in shower, 2 sinks, and separate toilet room. It is in a desirable location with many dining options within walking distance. I will stay here again! Excellent in every way.

I'm all about deals when it comes to making hotel reservations. So paying double for a room was painful. This was an early Valentines gift for my wife, so frugality went out the window. So what did I get for the price? I got a very clean king room with a gas fireplace. The room was about double the size of a normal motel room. It also had a small outdoor covered patio. The bathroom was basically three rooms. One with the toilet, one area with a large counter space with dual sinks, and one area with a large walk-in shower (it could comfortably hold four people). The room was very clean and had room service daily. We had a small library in the room, bottled water, 4k tv (brilliant picture), and bathrobes in the closet. At check-in, we were greeted by a very nice lady, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, and a newspaper. The free continental breakfast consisted of bread, various cereals, breakfast bars, fruit cups, yogurt, sausage egg and cheese croissants, and some sort of egg and bacon sandwich on a roll that was very good. The orange juice and apple juice was real and not that orange or brown colored stuff that comes out of a machine. The breakfast room was very unique, and overall I give breakfast 5 stars. But one of the biggest amenities of this motel was location, location, location! I was able to park and not start my truck until we left. Everything is in walking distance! Needless to say, my wife was very happy. This makes me happy, and I can very easily give the James Madison Inn five stars!

Wife birthday; TV didn’t work during UGA bowl game. No one knew how to fix it. Room was loud. Traffic noise. Could hear every conversation above or below us. Relayed this when we checked out and their solution was to give us the government rate discount (20%). I expected a better solution. I doubt we will return.

This is a lovely hotel with large rooms. It seems to be advertised as an historic property but I learned that it was actually constructed in 2007 with some historic materials made a part of the construction. The rooms are very nice, although there is no glassware and the bathroom linens are just ok. The shower heated quickly, although our room had only one head from above that could be adjusted only slightly. Breakfast is included; a continental set-up that is well done. It’s not the Ritz but you won’t starve either. A key feature is its location about 25 steps from Town 220, Madison’s best restaurant. Very friendly staff too.

Very clean and comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff provided early and easy check-in as well as good dining suggestions. Good location with several good restaurants nearby. Nicely decorated in a traditional and contemporary style.

I don’t know how anyone can give this place less than a 5! My story is long so be patient. We have been planning on staying here for years. We love driving through Madison and looking at all of the beautiful old homes in town. We dream of having one of these beautiful places but, since our 9 kids, their spouses and 21 grandkids are in Florida it probably won’t happen. We were on our way home from a trip to Virginia for a family emergency. We heard that things were stable and decided to stay here on our way home. The GM could not have been nicer. He understood our stress. When I asked where I could get a bottle of wine he said he would drive and get some. I was astonished at this wonderful gesture. It was brought to the room in an ice b bucket with glasses. Now where do you get that kind of compassion ANYWHERE. I’m not saying this happens all the time and granted I looked a little frazzled. Our room was fabulous!!! Really look at the pictures on the website, they are for real. The balcony did overlook the parking lot but we were here in July… not going to sit out there anyway. I will stay here again for sure. Southern hospitality at its best.

We have been staying at the James Madison Inn since 2010. It has always been a favorite and a luxurious hotel. They used to have fresh flowers in your room, turn down service with a chocolate left on your pillow. They also had a very nice complimentary breakfast. The last few times I have stayed there the room was not clean, needed some updating and the breakfast now is just grab and go yogurt, granola bars and fruit. For the price I feel that the breakfast should be more substantial. Holiday Inn has a better breakfast. Seems to me their decline has gotten worse since it sold.

Never disappointed ... this property and staff consistently exceed expectations. We have been staying at the JMI several times a year for the past six or seven years. Located in the heart of Madison's quaint downtown. Easy walk to wonderful shops and good restaurants. The property has well appointed rooms, is quiet, has comfortable beds and a nice continental breakfast. Highly recommend. Exceptional Value.
