I never stayed in a Cambria before, in fact I rarely stay at Choice Hotels....always felt it was a crapshoot at their midscale locations like Quality Inn or Comfort Inn. This hotel is considered "upscale" to the chain and I see what they are trying to do here...I mean it's really nice and consistent. Makes me rethink staying at Choice Hotels, at least their upscale brands.....but let's do a reality check here. When they say upscale, this does not compete with Hilton Upscale (Hiltons, Doubletree, Embassy suites, etc.) or Marriott Upscale (Marriotts, Westins, etc.). Based on my experience I'd say that these hotels are excellent upper midscale hotels, in other words, imagine a very nice Courtyard.....The price here was competitive, so I'd stay here again. Nice touches like electric mirrors were nice and the toiletries were good quality. But although components of the hotel felt modern and nice, it also had worn aspects to the room, like stains on granite tops in bathroom or the very nice wood dividers betwween bed and living room were worn out. TVs were also really hard to navigate. I didn't use pool but it was so small. Yes, people are complaining they had to pay for breakfast but honestly I'd rather do that and get quality than the bland stuff mid-scale hotels give for free. Bar is nice at night. Overall, i'd stay here again because price is right for a really nice upper midscale hotel that was clean and service was good (except they didn't offer me a welcome gift for being a diamond member).
