We went for a birthday meal with family. I was very excited to go back to the Oakley as we had been many times before, I had also told all the family about the fabulous food especially the golden, crispy, chunky chips. What a disaster! My son and daughter in law had pre-ordered starters, the mains arrived first then the starters. My son in law was given a small portion of his meal so my daughter shared hers with him. Their children wanted pizza, they arrived without any sauce, so they were just dry bread with cheese. The youngest didn’t eat much. My husband had ribs, they were nothing special apparently. I had the chicken salad, which was a large portion of leaves, four small tomatoes cut up, a few slithers of cucumber and cold chicken. But the biggest disappointment was the chips, those of us who had the ‘chunky’ chips weren’t happy at all. They were pale, dry and thin not the thick, crispy, light brown ones we were expecting. What the heck happened to the food? Did you lose your brilliant chef? The drinks were good except for the lager which had a funny taste. The waitresses were very attentive and polite, so not all was a loss. I will not be booking a large party at the Oakley in future. We are still talking about how bad it was.
