The staff was fabulous! Room was clean. Spent a lot of time in their courtyard. Very enjoyable!

The hotel is okay and in a good location. The rooms are outdated but reasonably well equipped. There is no soundproofing at all — you can hear everything outside the room, including people swimming in the pool.
In addition, they decided to do renovations in the room next door exactly when we decided to take an afternoon nap. Very frustrating.

Alan Alegria, beware of the scammer! Alan Alegria claims to be the owner of Mandala Group with his brothers (a photo from his WhatsApp) and is offering a studio in Bacalar for 4,500. He then asks for a 480 deposit to reserve it because someone (an engineer told me) also wants it. He then asks for a 420 deposit to pay 500 a month to add the fee to the contract. Then he says he's going to show it to them but never shows up. There's always an excuse (a car mishap) or he simply doesn't answer your messages or calls. Then he says he's going to send someone to refund you but no one shows up either. Don't believe him, he's a scammer!

It’s just ok, I guess for your money.
I have been staying in this hotel for years every time I visit Mahahual. They have not mad any improvements. Just a place to sleep and shower. The breakfast is not good at all. Not much effort in the cooking and serving.

The hotel Matan Ka’an is not well maintained and we had cockroaches in the room gaviota, the towels and sheets were not clean, they didn’t have the necessary amenities like hair dryer or mini fridge. The pool was in terrible condition.
