The hotel is on a hill, and the room overlooks the village and Borobudur. Every morning I am awakened by the sound of birds chirping, traditional Indonesian music in the hotel is like the tinkling of spring water, and in the afternoon the sound of chanting comes from the foot of the mountain. At night, watching the stars under the mountain in the darkness, this is the feeling of relaxation. The hotel's wifi is very poor, but isn't vacationing just about escaping from the world? The room is a traditional Indonesian building, the ceiling and windows are very distinctive, and the bed is very comfortable. The breakfast is very rich, including Western-style toast and omelettes, Indonesian fried rice and noodles, and a lot of fruit juices, all of which taste good. Located halfway up the mountain, when you enter it, it's like entering a black shop, but there is another shop in the dark, and the scenery is good. This secluded resort where you can truly rest without crowds surrounding you is a gem. While the suites do show ( just a tiny bit) some wear and tear, the overall comfort was just great. Rooms and bathroom are big, and one sleeps well. No TV and that was perfect. What makes this resort truly exceptional is the quality of the service. All staff from house keeping, reception, restaurant, drivers are absolutely dedicated to make to stay a great one. Always smiling, prompt at assisting you, handling all your excursions booking without a single hitch and without its having to remind them about any of our requests. Last bit not least, their restaurant “Taste Java” offers a great selection of local food (99.9% of the menu is made of Javanese dishes, including may ways to prepare bananas…). One has to dig into the menu and try as many things as possible as the quality is top notch, and very healthy. Of note for those wondering why the restaurant is not very busy: don’t get fooled….Most guests are staying in villas that have dining rooms, where the food would be served. The suites guests would be the ones eating at the restaurant while enjoying a beautiful scenery. Bottom line, we enjoyed a hassle and problem free week in Borobudur Villa and highly recommend them.
