BTC Hotel

The hotel's location is unbeatable; it's just a ten-minute walk to Jonker Street, and there's a convenience store right across the street. However, the room was a bit small, and the facilities felt quite old. You had to really push the door to get it to close properly, and there was no indicator if it wasn't locked. One night, we didn't realize the door wasn't locked, and both our blankets were pulled back. I actually woke up because I was cold. I'm not sure if someone quietly came in. Seriously, if you're booking this place, you need to be careful about that.

The biggest highlight of this hotel is its excellent location. It's within walking distance to Jonker Street and the Stadthuys, but what's even better is that it's situated right at the entrance of Jonker Street's one-way system (vehicles can only travel north to south). This means if you're taking a taxi to the central station, you can walk about 100 meters north to Jalan Hang Jebat to catch a ride, perfectly avoiding the Jonker Street traffic. Another plus is how quiet it is; I didn't see any tour groups, mostly individuals or families, so it wasn't noisy. Also, the windows can be opened, which keeps the room feeling fresh. If you're not too particular about room amenities, this hotel is a good choice. Oh, and there are two excellent Indian restaurants next door. Their idly and thosai are delicious and very reasonably priced.
