The Hotel was beautiful and the location was great the clean facilities were excellent and the service was exemplary. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Grand. Our problem seems to be with TRIP.COM. We paid our bill, a fact born out by our credit card, but we keep getting notices for nonpayment. I have tried to contact the hotel with no luck and no luck with TRIP.COM.

The Grand is lacking in customer care. I arranged a medical meeting at this hotel with tea coffee and lunch arranged. The staff were nowhere to be found during the plenary sessions to ask where coffee would be served. At the time i contacted reception who told me the wherabouts for coffee. I then sent delegates to this location to be told there was another event being held there. 15 mins later i called reception again to be toldthey would call me back. I waited but nothing so i rang again. By this time we wre 20 mins behind. Eventually they told me coffee was in another area. To which we were presented flasks of bitter lookwarm coffee and no biscuits which were pre paid for. We were due to return to the room when biscuits arrived in little wrappers like on an aeroplane no thought given to presentation at all. I then discovered after the event that 2 people had been charged for 2 nights despite only one night being requested at checkin. They said we had booked 2 nights. My issue here is that most hotels would rectify this mistake and not charge but no they charged the full whack. The hotel is dated in places and carousel doors were a bit unoperational. There was no staff around when required at the event and they were slow to come when asked why coffee hadnt arrived they didny put their noseds in the door. After the event i contacted their Conference manager who had a like it or lump it attitude and said if i ever stayed again id get free coffee. This was not what i call good customer care as i had paid for product that was not coming and very poor when it did.It was a bad refence to my event and cast a shadow over the day. Also the people were not told on arrival where coffee was so we missed the first break also. So 2 coffee breaks missed. Food at lunch was ok but a bit too little as it was all measured and set out. Reception staff let you carry your own bags no offer of support. After i wrote my letter of complaint about the day i got condescended as to how wonderful the hotel was and how many events they held. What they didnt realise is id been at events there while they were still in nappies. I didnt want to hear how great they think they are . I wanted compensated for the things that went wrong. I then asked to speak to the hotel manager who basically sent me an email again telling me how wonderful they were and how they held events for people all over the world. They basically gaslit me and made me feel i shouldnt be complaining as it was no big deal. I was charged for 30 people for coffee twice and they didnt bring it on time . I was charged for 2 extra nights despite informing the reception that we didnt want 2 nights. If you are thinking of staying here think twice. I had a much better stay the following week at Potmarnock links hotel. Lovely help at reception with bags ,lovely warm modern room, great food and wonderful reception staff eager to please. The Hotel staff here seem to have an overrated opinion of themselves and a

I have stayed here several times. Lovely lication. Staff are very pleasant( mostly the men). Room was excellent and clean. Shower could have been hotter and the shampoo supplied were in bittles attached to the wall and the pump was very poor. Very little product came out. Pillows could have been firmer. Overall the room was perfect. I stayed in an executive room. However both of the other couples we travelled with stayed in superior rooms and said the double bed was far too small and both couples ended up sleeping in a double and a single in their rooms. But ill leave it to them to do a review of that. We drank in the matt ryan bar on night 1. But OMG had to leave. The noise of chairs being scraped across the floors was horrendous. the chairs really could do with some felt on the bottom of the legs. The family at the table beside us said the same!. The lack of music even if was only a background radio would have been good. Due to this we decided to only have one predinner drink in the bar and then we left and went to a local bar. We didnt use the residents bar so cant comment on it. Breakfast was ok. Plenty of food available. Will go definitely go back, but not sure if i would socialise in the bar again

This hotel reads well , overlooking sea etc. the hotel itself is lovely, nice reception, bar, restaurant but it is souless. There is absolutely no ambience about the hotel. No piped music in bar and was told the only day they have music is new year! I would compare it to staying in a nursing home ~ you will be fed and watered but no frills. We went up the town be entertained. My husband and I are nearing retirement but if you like a bit of life don’t stay here.

Nothing grand about this hotel. Even the automatic doors were periodically dysfunctional, as were all the vending machines on every floor. On one, the "Not Working" sign hung upside down, a sad testimony to the indifference of the staff. Luggage trollies have sticky tired wheels. Concierge service non existent but even civility is lacking -- an old woman wearing an orthopedic brace was told by a young woman twiddling her thumbs at reception to heave her luggage on to a nearby trolley, without asking if she need help. Even when they had nothing to do, the trio of ladies sitting there were strangely immobile. Requests for help bounced off them. The nice folk are in the bar, with quick, friendly and attentive staff. The rooms are clean, small, nothing grand about them either, parr for a 3 star hotel. There is no mini bar but a kettle and instant coffee. I heard complaints about upper floors being very hot, as it was a warm day. The bed was not very comfortable and the pillows ancient and worn out. Ditto the sheets. The gym is an airy place, with really good standard machines. The pool is very large, the staff very friendly. Locals go here. They are lovely. The location is not near the beach but near the walk-way around the harbor. If you want beach, you need to go to the Portmarnock Resort Hotel. Strangely, it often costs a little less, while their smaller rooms are much nicer, the front desk staff is helpful, and the beach begins right at the door.

Went here with my wife for Easter, booked online and was able to check in online, check in was like 2/3 minutes a pleasant young lady checked in and explained where the restaurant, swimming pool, bar etc...our room was 350, a big spacious room, with plenty of cupboard space, a huge bed, massive big bathroom too, view was nice too of the coast line. On our first night we had a wander around hotel to get our bearings, its a very nice hotel very clean and bright in most places, we went for a stroll around Malahide (what a beautiful place) when we came back to hotel we had a few night caps in the lovely bar. We both slept very well, we went down for breakfast, what a great choice of breakfast on offer continental/traditional/fresh fruit/pastries, we both opted for the traditional Irish breakfast, this was so fresh and tasty. After chilling to let our breakfast settle we went to the leisure centre, the pool was a very nice temperature and not too busy, I went in steam room, sauna and jacuzzi, these were all excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with anything we required, the restaurant staff were particularly professional and didn't get flustered when Sunday breakfast got very busy around 10am. Overall 10 out of 10 and we will definitely be back soon.
