The former seat of the Podewils is absolutely idyllic on one of 2 neighboring lakes near a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. It is a castle consisting of a main building and an annex with some outbuildings, a breakfast terrace and a jetty. The hotel is relatively large, very crooked and true to the original cozy equipped and furnished. You can also tell by the small doors (ex service wing?), the sloping floors and the extremely damp and musty rooms, at least in our case. Deductions also for inadequate equipment such as missing shower curtain and rakes in the bathroom. Exterior facade is not yet fully renovated. But super nice service, great dinner in the elegantly maintained restaurant, nice reception of our 3 dogs, breakfast on the terrace with a view of the lake. If possible, get a room with a lake view. Hotel is also very child-friendly, has its own playroom (Urmel plays in the castle 🙂).
