Second time that we have stayed in one of the Barn rooms. Have to stay the rooms are good, drying room for dogs good, as is the fresh milk! In the pub/hotel, again the lunch and dinner menus are good and food, perhaps slightly overpriced but my wife and i were satisfied and it was positive with good hospitality. I feel that on both mornings the breakfast experience feels like the food is cooked in a completely different kitchen by different people. The standard of food at breakfast needs addressing. The quality and presentation of cooked breakfast suggests it gas just been dumped on a plate. Sausages totally undercooked on both days. My wife’s vegetarian sausages like something from the early 80’s (get updated). On day 2, the poached eggs on toast were very poor. A slice of toast with two poached eggs just dumped on the plate. Presentation zero. I have to say that staff on at breakfast appear less good as well I am sorry to say. On checking out I was served by a cheerful guy. When asking about the stay I mentioned the breakfast. Frankly he did not disagree, highlighting the quality is harder to get right and a bit of a jumble. I would like to think that I am being pretty fair with this review, but for £410 for a two night stay, breakfast needs a sort out.
