Lovely setting for a quiet get away. Property needs updating but this is planned already, starting Oct 2023. Very pleasant staff and good breakfast. Good value for money.

Just perfect, the escape that was required. The Twin Room was spacious and beautifully clean, white linen that was of good quality, fluffy towels and replaced when required. Breakfast was amazing, fresh tomatoes and mushrooms and locally sourced sausages and bacon. Lovely garden with outdoor furniture to enjoy the late summer weather. Will definitely return.

The hotel is under new ownership, and Marina and Mark were very helpful and friendly and quickly resolved a minor problem which was not of their making. The room we stayed in was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. There is a lovely outside seating area in the garden which would be great to sit out with a drink from the bar. The Hotel is within easy walking distance of a pub, less than 100 or so yards away, which specialises in Indian food. We will definitely stay at the hotel again, next time we are in the area.

The hotel is empty…. More like a ghost hotel . Booked it any it was nobody there.. They didn’t bother to let me know beforehand so I had to stay in front of the hotel for hours trying to sort the issue with booking… Never mind that I had to woke up about 3 am to travel and work through the day…. And when I get to the hotel…. It was empty! No contact was possible like phone or emails… no answer!!

We had a lovely stay at the Holdfast Hotel. We booked the large downstairs double room with ensuite, a view and access to the back garden, and a living room area. It was absolutely beautiful, very relaxing and spacious for the two of us. It was great to be able to sit outside and have a coffee if we wanted to. The rooms were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We slept well. It was so quiet and peaceful and we felt almost as if we were the only ones there which suited us perfectly. The breakfast area was pretty, especially the table next to the window. Breakfast was booked the night before and times were staggered, so it was not overly busy. There is no dinner option at the hotel currently (although I gather they are planning to offer this in the future) However, there is a pub just a very short walk away which serves lovely Indian food, so we went there on our first night. Our hostess was very helpful and welcoming. It was easy to miss the entrance to the hotel when we first arrived, as it is a narrow lane right next to the pub, surrounded by trees and bushes, but once you find it, it is a lovely driveway to the building with trees either side, which makes it feel hidden away in the countryside. We would definitely book the same room again if we come back to the area and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in this beautiful part of the world.

I booked and paid for this accommodation a few months ago specifically to be close for the RHS Spring festival for which we had tickets. This reservation was made by telephone and I checked with the gentleman that gluten free options were available for breakfast. Having never received an email confirmation I telephoned again closer to our visit to re-affirm our booking but this time was told by that “No, there is only gluten free bread available.” Not too big a deal but AT NO TIME was the fact that breakfast was not included in the price mentioned, so we were shocked to be told at check in that breakfast would be £25 per day This is now mentioned on their website but was not at time of booking and of course we had no email confirmation. Venue was handy for 3 Counties Showground and our room was adequate for just 2 night stay. Bed comfortable but some areas of room were dusty and stairs might be a problem for some

Overpriced and under-delivered. Having our original booking elsewhere cancelled, we had little choice for an event at the show ground. We were put into the ‘courtyard’,which could only be accessed via the flowerbeds or very overgrown wet grass. The health and safety police would not be impressed, but we are quite nimble. Bed was comfy, but the room was very old and tired and clearly hadn’t been touched this century. Toilet seat broken and bathroom mirror worryingly precarious. Good shower, but the whole place not well cleaned. On the positive side, it was spacious. We avoided the outrageously expensive breakfast, but can recommend the excellent Indian restaurant/pub next door for an evening meal

I booked this based on price and had seen the photos and reviews so I knew that it was not a 5 star hotel. I had the smallest room and the only single. The lady running it was called Marie I think, she was very nice and efficient. The hotel has character as it is an old building- think funky shaped rooms and low beams causing you to duck at some points. It seems to be in new hands and has had some renovation recently. I think my bedding was brand new and the room was clean but basic. On the first night the radiator was noisy but was OK the second night and they said they would bleed it. It is set back from the road and I had a good nights sleep. I did not have breakfast. The pictures are as I was leaving hence the mess.
