A beautiful location with stunning views. The hotel interior was a perfect mix of traditional and contemporary. Our room was right at the top of the building and, although very small, it was well designed and very clean. The service was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough to help you. We had dinner in the bar, which was tasty and arrived quickly and hot! All in all, The Cottage in the Woods is a perfect place for a quiet break with a little luxury. We will definitely be returning.

Beautiful hotel nestled in the Malvern Hills. Stunning vistas and a prime location for visiting the area and beyond. Comfy rooms, lovely toiletries and very peaceful and quiet. Dining is a true experience. Make sure you book ahead if staying for the time you want to eat, as this is a destination restaurant. Had dinner there two nights in a row as it was so delicious. Parking can be busy but there is additional parking behind some of the accommodation. V Friendly helpful hotel. Lovely staff. Would definitely stay here again. Ps being walking boots as the countryside and walks are splendid

This Review is a little late from our visit over Sunday 1st / Monday 2nd September as we were awaiting the courtesy of a reponse from Management to critique and feedback we gave on departure. None received to date. We had been looking forward to spending our wedding anniversary at The Cottage in the Wood at a not inexpensive cost. This cost is accepted for a 4* hotel / 3AA Rosette Restaurant. The actuality was anything but ! Our ' Best Room ' had superb views; it was but adequate and practical but nothing special. And - no bathrobles! 4* ?? No option of a newspaper! 4* ?? On arrival early Sunday afternoon we were advised it was not viable to have a sandwich - only the full Sunday Lunch Menu was available. This was not wanted as we were dining in the Restaurant that evening. 4* ?? The same scenario ensued on Monday lunchtime. In fact, the Bar was closed; the Kitchen was closed; and the only available options were tea and coffee! 4* ?? Another guest was fretting as her medical condition required 'food'. I offered to take her to the local mini-market to obtain such ! How can a supposed 4* Hotel not provide its basic lounge menu over a Sunday, Monday (and we think possibly Tuesday) with bar services none existent over the day on Monday (possibly Tuesday). Surely this basic service is but an expected pre-requisite in a 4* Hotel. [ But - ' thank you ' Joanna for your ultimate input and action - appreciated. Oh, and by the way, your kindly intended gesture of a glass of champagne at our anniversary dinner never did materialise !! ] Had we been pre-advised on this scenario on booking, we would not have confirmed the reservation. Dinner on both evenings did not live up to its promised 3AA Rosette reputation - palatable but nothing special ( we do have fine dining comparisons to allow us this viewpoint). It must be said that the choice is too limited if you intend to eat more than one night in the Restaurant. Breakfast but a disappointment too. Both mornings it was generally overcooked - or more left to linger on the passe. To paraphrase Alex Polizzi's suggestion that the measure of a good breakfast kitchen is its poached eggs ... then mine certainly would not have passed muster. They could have been used for ping-pong balls. It was also alien (in a 4* hotel) to have no ' continental option ' nor even a croissant or pastry ! Overall - this was an extremely expensive and disappointing wedding anniversary experience. One to be forgotten.

Just popped in for lunch, but unfortunately, being dairy free there was nothing for me. Stopped for a coffee which was sadly only like warm but very good coffee. The staff were very welcoming and the place very clean. Views from here are outstanding.

We had the three course lunch. Every single morsel was delicious and beautifully presented . The new chef Rob is obviously talented as the cookery was imaginative. Great service from Michael who was attentive but not overly pushy. The views are beautiful from the dining room. Well worth the drive.

Always wanted to see where this hotel was and last Sunday we found it by chance. So we sampled a gin & tonic and some wasabi beans and sat outside taking in the view. Very nice bar man. Friendly & polite. Reception was busy. Lots of guests just chilling. Menu looks lovely. Need to visit again to eat.

My third stay at the Cottage in the Woods Malvern. The first two stays were very good. My third stay a massive disappointment. My experience, without predjudice, was staying for three nights in the Coach House - the most expensive room type in the hotel, named by themselves as 'The Best.' The good points, a large room with comfortable bed and pillows. A good nights sleep. The staff very good. Housekeeping put right some of the following bad points. The bad points. The room was dirty. Over a dozen spiders in the corners and ceiling and numerous cobwebs. Layers of dust on the glass base of the ceiling light. Hairs on the bathroom wall behind the bin and dust behind the free standing bath. This wasn't a days worth of build up. The Head of Housekeeping viewed this. The explanation given was that the cleanining staff had 35 rooms to clean in only a short time. The room safe was broken. There was tea and coffee but there wasn't milk or biscuits on the first night. Milk was provided to me via reception on asking. The biscuits provided were not of the same quality as previously. There was tap water in the fridge but the fridge hadn't been turned on. The fan in the bathroom was off at the isolator switch high up on the wall, which meant balancing on the bath edge to turn it on. We were told we had a spectacular view but the view was of trees blocking the spectacular view. Breakfast, in my opinion, was poorer than previous stays, bland and it appeared of poorer quality produce. Eggs that were meant to be on rye bread were on ordinary bread and bacon was cooked past crispy. Because of this we didn't eat dinner in the hotel even though on previous visits it had been excellent. One day we returned back to our room on the ground floor and found the patio door, which opened onto a terrace and accessible to all, wide open. Housekeeping must have forgotten to close it after cleaning the room. What's happened? All in all an expensive disappointment.

This was booked last minute as a quick overnight stay. It surpassed all my expectations and I’d happily spend longer here. It’s in a lovely setting, with a great restaurant and lovely staff. Breakfast was delicious. We chose the most basic room, but it was great. Not too small, clean, and very comfortable. I’m sure we will be back!

What a view! The hotel is nestled right into the Malvern hills with the Worcester Beacon being within walking distance. Book direct with the hotel and ask for a room with a view across the valley. The staff here are lovely and we were very well looked after. Malvern, Worcester, Hereford , Eastnor Castle, Ledbury and Elgar’s birthplace are all within an easy drive.
