Although the front desk personnel were excellent, delightful and very professional, the hotel restaurant was not properly staffed for the Easter week [Semana Santa] which produced chaotic meals that did not demonstrate good customer service. Although the food was good, tables were not cleared, water and coffee was not poured and I had to search for silverware. Because of the crowds and the Fiesta guests which included mucho children, the pool water was also very dirty and the filtration system failed to clean the water on Friday and Saturday night March 29-31. Obviously the hotel management could have anticipated the hundreds of guests that descended upon their facility that week and hired more staff. The staff that were in the restaurant were unhappy and not too friendly. I have noticed a high turnover in the restaurant staffing as I have been visiting every year—except 2018 [the year of violent protests] and 2020 [COVID]—for the past 15 years. Hotel management failed to provide long-time guests like me with good customer service. I would suggest better staffing during the holiday weeks and customer service training from the “Hotel Camino Real” which has retained its excellent service staff even during the COVID years. Camino Real knows how to treat its employees AND its guests well.
