Hotels Near Niederburg in Manderscheid

We were there as a family, 2 children, 2 adults. For the first time to positive: - Top location in the volcano. Who wants to drive sport (tennis / walking / bike) is golden here. - Very good gastronomy. We booked breakfast for the choice at the buffet is top. Even in the evening we had a double buffet, for everyone was something. - Kids Club very recommended, the children felt well and were super cared. All matters were addressed. - Sport and Spa area very good. - friendly and always endeavoured staff, regardless of what area we were. Unfortunately, these positive points were overwhelmed by the lack of accommodation. Therefore, only the three stars (and only because of the above points!). We had a holiday house Ahorn. Even the arrival there was not invited: spine tissue at the door, a dark entrance. When entering the apartment, a muff came directly to the front as if there was no one in it for a long time. The tape floor in the entire apartment (except the entrance area) is not even modern. What uses me allergic-friendly bed linen when old tape is everywhere? ! In a room the moisture passed through, bed covers were wet, a hardly existing hang could hardly be closed. The bathroom with shower was badly cleaned, dirt and spiders under the ceiling. At all, bathroom and kitchen felt very long no longer cleaned. All in all a frechness, such a accommodation is not just to offer cheap. We wouldn't go to the accommodation for the first time. When we finally told what we thought of the house, we were told ”the floors are now being gradually renewed”. This will not be enough to make the apartments attractive again.

The parking is across the road from the hotel. On arrival there was a sign in reception saying we are taking a break so wait until we return. The receptionist appeared in a couple of minutes and was very helpful, and subsequently we saw there was usually someone at reception so perhaps we were unlucky but it did not give the best first impression for a 4 star place. The hotel is nicely decorated. The room was average size, quiet, clean and comfortable but no fridge or tea/coffee making equipment, overall too expensive for what it was. The garden was pleasant though quite a bit of road noise. Dinner in the Culinarium restaurant was a bad experience. The food and wine was good but the delay and poor service were inexcusable. There did not seem to a manager and the staff did one thing at a time, e.g. they would bring a couple of dishes to a table then walk back to the counter without looking to see if other tables were ready to order, needed clearing or needed a drink, etc.. Sometimes all 3 staff would disappear, presumably to the kitchen, for several minutes. It took ages to get an aperitif, place our order, and even longer to receive the food. The wine list was extensive and included many local wines but the staff did not help the customers (no sommelier?). At one point a server taking dishes away dropped a knife on the floor, several staff walked passed it including the server who dropped it but only 5 minutes later was it noticed and picked up. The restaurant was about 60% full and most customers were getting upset with the service and delays. Finally one of the staff explained there was a problem with the system passing orders to the kitchen hence the delay in preparing dishes so we would need to be patient but would be offered a free drink. Surely a manager or the chef would have realised there was a problem and reacted sooner. Breakfast was buffet style but with a station to cook eggs to order. A good selection of food on the buffet, a nice setting in a glassed atrium, and there was a lady in charge who was friendly and efficient.

Feels like staying as a guest in a home rather than a hotel. Large spacious rooms tastefully decorated with a shower where you have space. No trying to shower in a confined space without hitting something and water power that gives a great sensation. Just luxiourious. Good breakfast with beautifully fresh bread. Tea and coffee available, as part of the room rate, 24 hours a day in the dining area. Access to use the dining and living room space for relaxing. Plus access to a good selection of drinks, both chilled and at room temperature, (wines, beers, soft drinks) in the dining area. Just take and leave a note to put on your bill. A host and hostess available to answer questions and give good advice on local restaurants and things to do. Thank you Sebastian and family.
