Stayed here with a few friends, the hotel has come under new management since the last time I was here and it's so much better than before. Everyone was super friendly and there's a lot of updates that have happened and apparently a lot more to come. Very pleased with this visit. I'd definitely come back again.

Didn’t get to go because when I talked to a male named Sam, he stated prices MUCH different than what was stated online when I went to book the room for three nights. Each night was stated $85 per night BUT SAM SAID, the price goes up for additional nights.. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!! I would have LOVED to stay there but not when I WILL BE CHEATED on the advertised price!!! I feel that I should only pay the $85 for each night… So needless to say, I did not book the room because of FALSE ADVERTISEMENT Inez Weaver

This place is very under rated! Brand new and updated. Very clean and the staff ate very friendly. Highly recommended. What can I say, compared to the Hilton we stayed at last month, I would say this place compares and because it allows pets, prefered.

Terrible experience. Manteo has steal our money!! We have booked directly with Manteo Hotel website for a room with 2 bed (queen) and a sofa for our family of 5 We have received by mail offer and confim €uro 734, 00 two nights. When we are arrived room we booked didn't exist We have requested to arrange the accomodation for our family. The room paid. The answer from Whitley Smith the unkind desk manager of Manteo Hotel was that it was not possible and the only solutions for us was to find another place or to go to buy a mattress to the near shop of Manteo!!!! The only solution into Hotel Manteo was a room with one queen and one sofa bed. Thinking to show her capacity to manage an hotel the "manager" show us the rate of this room for our days: USD 250 / night, for two nights USD 500. We paid 734,00 We asked to call and to speak with the general manager. She refused and after our claim she called him by phone avoiding that we could speak with him. At the end Manteo propose us a discount of 100 USD!!! It was 5 p.m. we had not possibility to find other accomodation. We accepted. Manteo stolen our money !!! Rooms was dirty, without sofa sheets and pillow. Under the sofa bed there was everythings. Bathroom was dirty Wi-fi was not working. Swimming pool closed. If you have other choice avoid to book and don't pay before arriving and control

The Hotel Manteo is the new name of the refurbished Elizabethian Inn in downtown Manteo, NC. (SAGA, a notorious land dealing company in the Eastern NC Coast area, is the new owner.) I have stayed in this establishment both before and after the renovation. Here’s my 2 cents worth: The Elizabethan Inn was, frankly, a dump. You only stayed here if you were deep sea fishing and needed a cheap one night stay. There were holes in the walls, rust in the sinks and toilets and rank carpeting from dirt and pets. (Pets are still allowed). Now, the renovations make it less disgusting, but they are the kind of renovations you do for a rental home- floors that aren’t correctly adhered, paint lines that aren’t crisp, good quality fixtures, but cheap plumbing and wiring. The electric touch point vanity mirror was puzzling, as was the beautiful shower stall and rotting bathroom door. The bedding was cloud perfect, the mattress was wonderful and I enjoyed my stay- but this was not in any way a luxury room worth $185/night. I was in town for the Wings Over Water Festival, and spent most of my stay in kayaks, on hiking trails and in wildlife preserves. The hotel is centrally located for OBX activities. The only true complaints I have are that the maid/cleaning staff are prone to forget that there are people in rooms during cleaning hours, and the amount of profanity (particularly the F-bomb) that came out of their mouths while speaking to each other or their friends on speakerphone while they worked was alarming- and I’m a retired middle school principal. The second- completely minor complaint was that the channel changing button on the tv remote was broken. (I left a note.) Bottom line- it was acceptable- but overpriced. I slept well, and was comfortable. There was a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer and sound machine available for use. The texts from the main office made check in a breeze. Will I return? Not if I can book a nice bed and breakfast at the same price point.

I booked Hotel Manteo for a business trip and I was very impressed with the quality and service of the hotel. The room was modern, spacious, and clean with great high-speed internet. The hotel is conveniently located near the downtown area of Manteo, where there are many shops, restaurants, and attractions to explore. The staff was very professional and helpful. I appreciated the hospitality and the amenities of Hotel Manteo.

Centrally located on the island with good eating establishments nearby. They are still under going renovations. We stayed in the main building. The pool has the old furniture, ice machine was out of order, and cleanliness (or lack thereof) was probably the biggest issue (which is something they have control over). Our room was acceptable, but the floor could use cleaning and the room a good dusting. There was a dust bunny under the foldable suitcase stand. So that tells you housekeeping doesn’t move things when they dust.

First off, this is an older hotel and yes they have attempted to renovate. We stayed in one of the annex buildings in the back in room 610. The driveway and parking space is broken up concrete and there are building materials lying around. At first glance the room looked nice, very spacious but then we realized how filthy dirty the floor was. There was dog hair all over the sofa. The wall AC unit was making a horrendous sound but the office immediately called the maintenance guy and he came right away to fix it. Then, we realized there is no bathroom sink or vanity. The is a space where it used to be right outside the bathroom. The actual bathroom only has a tub and toilet. There is an efficiency kitchenette with a cook top, fridge, microwave and tiny bar type sink with a mirror. That is the sink you have to use to brush your teeth or wash your face. You have to use the kitchenette counter to get ready because there is no bathroom mirror or vanity. It's just bazaar that there is no bathroom area with mirror to blow dry your hair or shave. The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and said she would have someone come clean our room but all they did was change the bed and and more towels which was not what we told her we needed. They DID not clean the floor or vacuum the pet hair from the sofa. I had to dust the pet hair off of the night stands on both sides of the bed. The floor had dips in it and was uneven. It seemed to be rotten in spots underneath the new vinyl plank floor. We didn't dare walk around in the room with bare feet. My husband wore his socks which were black from the filthy floor. We definitely will not ever stay at this place again. It is one of the less expensive hotels in the area but you would expect it at the very least to be clean.

Whenever one of us opened the door during the day or at night, at least several house flies would come into the room. The paper we were given at check-in indicated that an ice machine was located (outside) by the (single) Gatorade machine on the multi-unit property. And we did find a fly within one of the ice cubes. Several small roaches found the crack in the door and they made their way into the room. It’s evident they had not completed renovation of the room they rented to me. A wall-safe was sitting on the floor and some of the furnishings were far from new. One table was missing part of the table’s leg and the two chairs were obviously not nearly new. Most hotels have hand-holds in the shower, but not this one. We wiped up a spill on the floor and it left a lot of dirt on the paper towel. It made me think that mopping the floor wasn’t a priority for the hotel’s cleaning staff. That made me take a close look at the condition of the floor molding and it wasn’t clean either. The company Hotel Manteo engages to handle reservations sent me a confirmation email. In the email, it stated that I could get a complete refund if I cancelled my reservation before seven days of the reservation date. Multiple calls to the telephone number shown on the confirmation email went directly to voice mail and no calls were returned to me. The email address in the confirmation email was incorrect; emails to the address were always returned as “domain not found.” How could I cancel if they didn’t have a way for me to contact them. After checking in, I was told that I was to text the front desk if I needed to contact them. That should have alerted me to the management’s poor choice to not put a telephone in the room. Broken window locks and dirty windows. Also, no curtains to cover the holes in the window blinds. I'm ashamed that I allowed myself to be taken advantage of in the way I was treated. Please learn from my stupidity. Stay some place else. Any place would likely be better.
