Overall there was a peculiar feel about the place. The site contains at least 12 rooms spread across cabins, apartments, "homesteads" and also a house. I believe that we were the only people staying on the site on the night of our stay. Check-in was fine, with no staff on site it is a simple matter of retrieving the room-card from the safe using the provided combination. Check-out also a no-fuss matter of leaving the room-card on the table and being on our way. The site however had that liminal run-down feeling that results after a tourism boom slows down but the accommodation providers keep ticking along hoping things will pick up again. The pool and grounds certainly did not look as if they are still being maintained. The cabin interior does seem to have been upgraded at some point though. It was appointed reasonably enough for something in the price range, but there were some odd design choices which made the space unpleasant. The television was mounted on the wall at head-height just shy of protruding across the bathroom doorway, watch your head if you are turning toward the kitchen. Bedside tables on the wall are clearly spaced for a king-size bed resulting in substantial gaps between them and the smaller bed which is there. The main windows were both fitted with blackout blinds, which is a nice touch. Yet neither the full length window panes beside the door nor the glass inset within the door itself had any coverings at all. Outside of the door are bollard lights along the boardwalk to the cabin which put an ungodly amount of light into the cabin throughout the night. Empty cabins nearby also had a mix of interior and exterior lights on which also probably contributed. A similar example of the lack of attention to detail is the absence of any type of door-mat despite the rainforest setting leading to leaves and grime being easily tracked inside. The provided tea, coffee etc were adequate for the length of our stay. The interior of the cabin was mostly neat and tidy, although dishware had not been washed prior to our arrival.

Nice private cabin, all we could hear was the wildlife around us

Gorgeous surroundings, cabin right amongst the forest even with scrub turkeys wandering around

Relaxing, quiet and cosy. The cabins were recently renovated due to flooding and we stayed in cabin 10. New floors, paint, furniture, the works and this place really delivered! An induction cooktop, microwave, fridge, tv, couch and of course the fire place! I am so glad we stayed here. My partner had actually paid for this night away way back in January 2021 for my birthday and the day we were driving up to Mapleton, Brisbane went into lockdown. A massive thank you to the management team who honoured our booking and told us to use the night we had paid for at any time. It took 18 months for the stars to align and for us to find a date where we could finally stay the night and there was no issue with it being so long after the original date. The facilities were great! Close to shops though you do have to drive. No public transport no Uber or taxis but driving into the towns is quick with montville only 10 minutes away. We would stay here again in a heart beat.

No reception makes it hard our key card didn’t work on arrival and very poorly lit. The advertised ‘pool’ and other services look abandoned and extremely uninviting. However the room is nice and modern inside!!

Clouds of Mapleton does have the opportunity to be a 5 star retreat but it fails badly. There is no onsite mangement (you are only notified of this on your day of arrival). The Wifi worked - but only as a LAN - there was no internet access, and if you are with a mobile service provider that's not Testra then you have no roaming data either. At $394 per night one would expect cleanliness - we had to rewash all of the dishes after finding glassware with lipstick still visible. After dark you need to take a torch outside as there is no lighting past the small pathway. A television was provided - but only 3 chanels were available. Lots little things like the towels being threadbare made the stay feel cheap. So what was good about the place - quiet because there were so few guests (over Easter Week-end) The bushland setting was pleasant.

Beds were comfortable and linen nice in Farmhouse 14. Showers and rooms adequate and the farmhouse spacious for our purposes. Location is next to a busy tourist road but good in terms of accessing a variety of tourist destinations.

The booking and check in process was easy(a lockbox onsite for electronic door key pickup using an emailed code). When I phoned reception they picked up quickly and were very helpful. The unit was a two bedroom and it was beautifully appointed. It was quite modern, very clean and being a garden unit it had everything you need for a family stay as it was a kind of forest lodge. The outside setting was a lovely rain forest setting making you feel you are in deep rain-forest even though the main road was only a 100 meters away. It was lovely and quiet and the parking was covered and easy. They have rain forest bush walking tracks on site and the sense of quiet was lovely. We were at Clouds Mapelton and the buffet breakfast was at Clouds Montville. This breakfast was very nice also. Nice food and nice service....easy! If you want peace and quiet this is for you. The only problem we had which somewhat annoying, was mobile phone/wireless internet coverage. We have Vodafone and the reception was patchy at best and none at worst. I suspect this was because we were down from the road in a dip. I had to walk to a high spot in the grounds to get any bars on my phone. I guess being off the grid overnight has it's benefits but having to watch free to air TV and put up with repeated ads for the latest reality TV shows is not one of them ;-) The Flat screen TV was a good one.

Spacious and comfortable cabin in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Clouds Mapleton was a wonderful setting to escape the business of city shopping. We went to sleep with frogs corralling outside. Our only complaint is that we could not stay longer.
