The RC Dove Mountain is such an incredible vacation spot - perfect for families like us, but we also saw plenty of honeymooners, couples trips, or friend getaways. I want to start by commending the service and all of the employees at RC Dove Mountain. All were so kind, welcoming, helpful, friendly, accommodating, etc. No negative or even less than wonderfully pleasant interactions. I wish I could remember names better to recognize them specifically. Next, the grounds/property - wow! To have such a wonderful resort in the midst of such a gorgeous natural setting is what [my] vacation dreams are made of. To be able to walk out the door and head straight into a hike without having to get in the car, plan to be gone all day, etc was fantastic. The maps and the rangers are helpful so that you can tackle as much or as little as you want on your own. We took one of the guided ranger hikes in the morning and loved it, so glad the hotel offers this. Ranger Ron was fabulous and patient with my 5 year old. We also went to Saguaro and the Sonora Desert Museum, and received fantastic recommendations from the hotel. Our son loved the pool and waterslide - there are two pools - one more for adults and the other geared more for families. Turquesa, the poolside restaurant, was our favorite of the dining experiences. I wish it had been open later in the winter but I also understand that it is chilly once the sun goes down. He also participated in a half-day kids club on our last morning and had a blast. He’s an only child and was hesitant about leaving mom and dad on vacation, but he needed time with other kids and in the end he had so much fun. Thanks to Ranger Brian for being wonderful with the kids. Lastly, I just wanted to point out two issues directly to the hotel that made our stay less than wonderful, in the spirit of being constructive. The first was that we were incorrectly advised by reservations as to the composition of the room types - we were told family suites with sofabeds were not available and yet, when we arrived, our room had a sofabed, which meant we could have booked a much more comfortable king suite (though we were told this was not an option). Not a huge deal, but made for less than great sleep. Also, the shower in our room was either ice cold, or scalding hot, there was no inbetween. In an area where water conservation is such a hot topic, we felt like we wasted so much water toggling with the temperatures each day, trying to figure out the temperature, and then giving up and choosing either ice cold water or scalp-burning water. This may have been just specific to our room, not sure. Either way, two small issues that prevented us from the perfect 5-star review. Thanks for a great stay!
